Black Palace

By Caitlin Clawson 12/25/06

I am so lonley in this world

it breaks my heart to see you now

so happy, so full of life,

while I rot away in silence.

Does anyone care?

Am I invisible?

Please, I whisper, petals falling in a tidewind,

someone save me from the nothingness.

I can see it, a black palace of pure darkness

and despair.

Silence ringing over the ivy-choked walls,

black roses falling from a gray sky.

Shall I go there?

This beauty held withing a realm of monsters

it calls to me, longs for me.

I want to come, I want to lie in dead gardens,

I will thrive for the moonlight and shadows,

May I dance under sparkling waterfalls?

Laugh with the sprites and trees?

I have one question though,

will you miss me?

The smile I once shown you,

the love we shared,

the memories we created.

I didn't think so.

Well, my black palace awaits.

I will be gone before midnight,

awaiting my true love

who will whisk me away to dance under the starlight,

where he will say to me, Never again will you hurt or weep,

your joy is my joy

your life is my life

your blood is my blood

take my hand and join me for all eternity.

Yessss, I whisper back, my soul glowing with happiness.
