I stood there

I held your hand.
I shared all your deepest fears.
They say blood is thicker than water.
Well, I shed my blood for you.
My payment:
Pain.
I thought I knew the true meaning
Until the day you left and killed my soul.
The ocean now at my feet.
The waves crash unto my toes.
The cold chills run up my spine.
A feeling so deeply remembered.
This water
All but crystal clear,
Polluted by lies and heartaches.
But when the clouds break,
The water slowly clears and all is revealed.
