Hermux Tantomoq, watchmaker sat in his shop watching the shadows drift heavily down over the watches and clocks. He could hear the sounds of clocks gently winding down as the hour of six pm drifted down over Pinchester. He closed his eyes.

He let his thoughts drift gently over the days that had passed since the end of his adventure. He though of the coming spring, and the daffodils that would grace the gardens in many places in the city.

He though about how it would be to hold the sun, or moon or wind in his paws. To be able to slip them into hers. But his smile was one of those that he knew would look fake. He had come in second place. And would always be second in her heart. Shaking his head he stood up and moved to the front of the shop and with a gentle paw flipped the open sign.

Making his way home that night he didn't notice the mouse who stopped in front of his shop her eyes saddening when she saw the sign on the door.

Very, very short fic that has been dancing around my head for sometime. This is based on the song Seven Wonders by Nickel Creek and is set between the books Time Stops for No Mouse and The Sands of Time.
