AN: Okay, so this is part of fic exchange with Danny Phantom SG-1. She wrote me a lovely little bit of Fluff called Valentine's Dorks, and I'm writing her this bit of angsty-ness. This is actually my first bit angst. I'm not much of an angsty person, apparently, but I did get a bit of inspiration from my new favorite movie, Enchanted, and my new favorite character, Edward. It's just under 500 words, which is pretty short for me. Also, I purposely left Ryan's princess anonymous, so you can insert anyone into it. Hope y'all like it!!
Disclaimer: I do not own Disney, which owns both HSM and Enchanted, so please don't hurt me.
Dedicated to DPSG1 for being amazing.

As Ryan watched the drama unfolding on the expensive television screen, he wondered, not for the first time, if art imitated life. Sharpay had always said that it was life that imitated art, but Ryan was sure she was only speaking from her personal philosophy.
It was a Disney movie, so it was no surprise that Ryan already knew that Giselle loved Robert. But Ryan's life was not a Disney movie, so he did not know that his princess had found a new prince until the very end, when those fateful words had left her mouth.
"Ryan, look at that!"
He was pulled out of his moping by a high-pitched squeal. Glancing down at his little sister, he cracked the smallest of grins. Lola was practically hopping up and down on the designer sofa, her excitement over Giselle's dress shining out of her, making her a bright flame in the darkness of the TV room.
"Isn't she pretty?" Lola's eyes were wide as Giselle twirled, showing off the fantastic creation.
Although it was Lola who had spoken, and Giselle that she was pointing to, Ryan didn't hear his sister or see the princess she was pointing to. He heard his best friend, who was pointing to his princess, her face glowing in the dim lights of prom. His breath caught in his throat as his world melted away into a swirl of memories, contained in the swirl of her skirt as they danced that night. He had assumed that night would never end, that they would end up with their own happily ever after. He knew they were going to different colleges, that there would be challenges. But his life had been a Disney movie back then, and there had been no doubt that they would make it through.
The movie's climax was fast approaching, if the swell of music was any indication. Ryan remembered the many times he and his princess had laughed at the movie music, often imitating it to fit their everyday lives. A particular incident involving the James Bond theme and an epic adventure to the milk cooler at lunch made Ryan laugh.
But then Ryan saw something that did not imitate his life. He saw his character, the one who lost the beautiful princess, find a new girl. Edward and Idina ran off, finding the way back to the animated world, and got married. They got their happily ever after.
And Ryan was still on his sofa on a Friday night, with his little sister, watching a Disney movie.
Lola looked up at him as the credits rolled, her satisfaction with the ending evident.
"That was god movie, wasn't it Ry?" She asked him, bouncing up and turning the lights on.
"Yeah." Ryan nodded, distracted. "But next time, I get to choose."
