(A/N: This is Clash, a short, bittersweet TMM KxI oneshot. Read and enjoy!)

Clash

Green and pink – two colours, which, with their very natures, seemed to repel each other. Each survived by trying desperately to rule over the other, each searching for ultimate power. It was madness to ever picture them residing together happily. And yet, sometimes, the two could come together beautifully, like no other combination. Even blue and pink, that oft-celebrated pair, paled before the glory of, for example, a soft, pastel green and a deep, passionate pink. They blended together seamlessly, both having just the right amount of power – not trying to win, but happy to coexist with the other; an unconsciously beautiful mixture, triumphing over all prejudice and difficulty in the strength of its bond.

It would never be, and existed only in one feverishly impassioned mind. The very thought that the shades could ever come together was a blasphemy, heresy against nature and whatever gods there were; as illogical and idiotic as the mind in which it lay. A mind which, even now, strove to avert its untimely and inevitable sprint down the road of insanity – such a tempting road! - by trying to bring this equally insane thought to fruition. For the success of the thought was the only thing that could become a boulder in the middle of the road, a blockade against the unstoppable, reckless, wild rush downwards, into an unknown and dangerous future.

For, while in all honesty and probability the boulder would never materialize, the thought's creator was desperate beyond all limits to have just one glimpse of the two colours together. Desperate to see, just once, the hopeless, bittersweet, sorrowful beauty of a vanished future. Or had it never existed at all? Had there never been, even for a fleeting moment, any chance of success, and of love overcoming prejudice?

Had there ever been a harmonizing clash?

OK, everyone, this is my first fic, so please be nice! I'm pretty happy with the overall result, although I did think that, perhaps, it should have been longer. Also, was the whole analogy slightly too obvious and exaggerated? Please tell me, and leave a review! I'd really appreciate it! Lettuce pies to all reviewers. ~EoW/NSTAN
