Love
How strange it sounded. How could a simple four-letter word make her knees shake? Her heart was beating frantically in her chest. She was in love. She groaned. Crap!

How strange it sounded. How could a simple four-letter word make his knees shake? His heart was beating frantically in his chest. He was in love. He groaned. Crap!
She walked down the corridors of Hogwarts, trying to find him. She spotted him with a group of his friends and gave him a significant look. He detached himself immediately and joined her in an empty classroom. She stared into his perfect face and tried to memorize every single detail. She could feel her heart breaking already. This was going to be so hard. She licked her lips nervously and plucked up the courage to open her mouth. She had to say it. Finally she managed to form the words.
"I'm sorry, I can't do this anymore."
Her eyes were already tearing up. This was so hard. He simply stared at her, the shock evident on his face. She turned around and tried to leave him, to get to the girls bathroom before she broke down. He instantly caught her in a crushing embrace. She was crying for real now. He hesitantly wiped her tears away and simply looked into her face. She was so beautiful it hurt to look at her. She was like the sun, she was what kept him alive. He could see, deep down in her eyes, that she didn't want to leave him. He saw love in her eyes and it was breathtaking.
"I love you, Hermione."
She looked up into his face.
"I love you too, Draco, so much."
He tried to kiss her but she pulled away.
"Which is why this hurts so much. Goodbye, Draco."
He caught her wrist and spun her around.
"I love you, Hermione. And you love me. What's the problem?"
He couldn't even imagine his life without her.
"It won't work. I just know it won't, Draco. Please move on, for my sake?"
She made the words stumble out of her mouth. He tried to kiss her again, getting desperate. She couldn't leave him!
"Draco. I'm begging you to let me go. Please!"
She was whispering now. It hurt too much to talk. She only had minutes before she'd break down. She needed him to leave her, she needed this to be over.
"Draco, it's over. Forever. Now let me go."
He let go of her wrist and backed away from her.
She ran to the nearest bathroom. She cried for hours. Her brain told her that she had made the right decision but her heart was breaking. She cried until her tears ran out. She cleaned her face up and tried to pretend that she was all right. She could see the lifelessness in her eyes. It just hurt so much. It felt like something was devouring her from the inside. She went back to the common room and plunged herself into her studies. She was going to handle this. She was going to get through it. She had to.
He walked back to his common room in a daze. She wanted him to let go. He had to do it for her sake. He had to survive this. He had to prove that he was strong.
The next weeks were full of exams. They both did well but she was just a tiny bit better. Like always.
That summer she went to spend some time with the Weasleys. She had to endure Ron's pathetic attempts at flirting. She had always been a good actress. She seemed flustered and pleased while her heart was still breaking.
That summer he took the Dark Mark and was forced to become a Death Eater. He had to promise to kill Dumbledore, one of the few people he respected. He went to the dark side.
After the battle of Hogwarts Hermione and Ron became a couple.
After the battle of Hogwarts Draco was forced into an arranged marriage.
She never forgot him.
He never forgot her.
But they were never to be.

A/N: Okay, that sort of broke my heart to write. I am such a Dramione fan. I was just feeling depressed today and needed to find someone that was sadder than I was.
