A/N: Submitted for the Rain theme on the Jellicle Moon drabble contest. This is an extended version.
It was gray out with thick clouds looming overhead, but Etcetera didn't care. With rain threatening to fall at any minute, the rest of the Jellicles were hiding away in their warm abodes and she was free to play to her hearts content.
From her spot just beyond an old basin she spotted a mouse. She crouched down, preparing to pounce but the critter started scurrying away. She ran after it in haste. She was determined to catch it and even the rain as it started to pour would not sway her. The mouse ran into a hole in a junk pile and Etcetera ran up and reached her paw in, trying to grab it.
"Hey little kitten," a rough voice said from behind her suddenly. Etcetera tensed, unable to recognize the voice. She turned around slowly to see a scruffy looking tom she had never seen before. "What are you doing out here in the rain... alone?" he asked stalking up to her. Etcetera started backing up but soon got backed into a corner. "Why don't you come with me? My place is nice and dry," he said with a twisted grin and started to reach for her arm.
"Hey! Leave her alone!" Tugger growled as he ran up to them with his claws and teeth bared. He barreled into the side of the tom causing him to tumble away. The stranger tom got up and hissed but he could see that Tugger was much bigger than him. He ran quickly back off into the shadows.
Tugger waited a few moments to make sure the tom didn't come back, then turned to Etcetera. "What were you doing out in the rain by yourself? Do you have any idea what could have happened?" he yelled, feeling strangly like his brother Munkustrap. He softened however when he saw how frightened she was. "Come on, let's get back. Jenny's been worried sick."
