Chapter 1

Tosh:

She had no idea how much time had passed since she had left Earth, there was probably no concept of time in this place anyway. Her breathing was shaky and uneven. She turned suddenly, paused for a moment, searched for something but couldn't find it, so she repeated the sudden turn in the opposite direction and looked again. It was like a reflex in this place, searching for something desperately, and then finding nothing. It was like someone was always watching you, but you couldn't see them – or it.

The place she was in: so dark, so empty, and so cold. A place where you couldn't even be sure that you were standing on something, because everywhere you looked was black. This was true darkness.

The woman's name was Toshiko Sato, a Torchwood agent, status: deceased.

Owen:

He had been here once before, been in the dark, the most awful place you could imagine. There was nothing awful here; no murder, no war and no violence. It was the worst place in the universe because there was just nothing. No bad, no good. No up, no down. No right, no left. Just nothing. The already broken life of Owen Harper had snapped again. That is, if you could call this life.

Before, when he had been dragged out of the darkness he thought his life had fallen to pieces, but at least there was life and colour on Earth. Returning into the darkness had definitely changed his mind. Even a broken life on Earth was better than no life at all.

The last person he had spoken to before being claimed by the darkness had been Tosh, poor Tosh who had fancied him for years. It had to be her who witnessed his death. He felt sorry for causing her so much pain. Why did everything seem to be his fault?

Ianto:

Ianto Jones sat, hugging his knees on the floor. At least, he thought it was the floor - it was hard to tell, because everything was so dark. He missed Earth, he missed his family, he missed his job and he missed Jack.

So this was death? Nothing to keep you occupied but your thoughts. What were you supposed to do? Did anything ever happen – or did it stay like this forever?
