Summary: A poem based on Cassia and Sio's story 'Stars of Harad', from Legolas' perspective. Set during the night right after he tries to approach Aragorn.

Disclaimer: sighs Ok, characters aren't mine, they're Tolkien's. Story from which this comes isn't mine either, that's Cassia's and Sio's. My rhyming ability (or lack thereof) is mine, as is this poem. Don't take those.

I know you, yet you know me not

Your brown face stares at me from country hot.

Hope's child, what brought you to this end?

What twist of fate, what road's bend?

Your words yet ring within my head

As I kneel outside your tent, my heart lead.

How can you know me not?

I, who understands your every thought?

How can you forget all we shared?

Laughter and heartache, through all paired.

A friendship matched in Aman itself—

Mortal human and immortal elf.

As slave song rises into starry night,

Alone, I will hold up my single light

And pray that it is enough

To guide you from path, rough.

I will not forsake you, my friend,

Even if it means my life must end.
