Memories

by Eternal Moonbeam

Blank eyes stared right back at me as I looked into the mirror. I touched my face, not knowing what I was. A tear slipped down the side of my face and mingled with my orange hair. Blank eyes still stared, as if dead.

Of course, I am not alive.

I am an android, and my name is R. Dorothy Wayneright. I was created, therefore I am not alive. There is a human side of me, which explains the flow of memories. Frequently I wonder whose memories they are. Roger frequently tells me they are mine, yet I don't feel like they're mine.

The memories belong to the girl I was created in the image of. Now I am only a stoic unfeeling android, though I am told I am pretty. A cat opened my eyes. Strange, isn't it? Now I seem to be a little more feeling towards others. But not by much.

They say life isn't cherished until you lose it. They're wrong. First of all, I have no life, and I never will. I am a dead, unfeeling android, remember? But whatever feeling I have, I cherish my existence. I feel it is the most wonderful thing anyone could ever have given me.

I sat at the edge of the terrace, my favorite place to sit and think in the entire mansion. I smoothed down my black skirt as I gazed down into the depths of the city. The city that lost its memories. I feel sympathy for it, for memories are constantly ruling my existence. Paradigm City, the place I live.

My passion is my piano. Oh wondrous object with which I unleash my feelings. Also used to irritate Roger. The smooth ivory keys underneath my fingers make me giddy. I bring my song forth on this black and white instrument.

Now that I have written this, I believe I do have a life, somewhere within me. My song of life, brought forth from my piano, helped me realize this. I threw down that ugly mirror, the fiend who showed me my outside. It shattered on the tile floor.

Blank eyes stare no more. They are now beautiful eyes, full of life.

I have my memories to thank.
