A small, fragile boy sat in the playground in which he had been at most of his life. The un-matching shirt and pants somehow blended into the darkness he was surrounded by. He was originally waiting for his best friend, Lily, who had beautiful green eyes and soft orange hair. They were both 13. They had many things in common, they figured out almost 3 years ago. The most important one that brought them together, though, was that they both had magic.
Lily has promised the boy that she would see him at the park before dark. But it was too late, he noticed, as a nearby street lamp twinkled in the black sky. He picked up a stick, angrily, (knowing that he had to go home always made him feel terrible) and threw it at a nearby bush. He regretted it.
The bush started shaking, and even though the boy had magic, he wouldn't use it. He knew that if he did, he would get in lots of trouble, and he didn't want that.
The boy stood up and ran home as fast as he could, tripping over rocks and the pavement many times. At last he reached his house. He looked back into the darkness, hoping that whatever was in the bush didn't follow him home. He grabbed the cold, silver doorknob as he heard noises coming from the inside of his house. His parents were fighting again.
The boy let out a sigh and sat on the front 2 doorsteps he had.
"Boo!" a soft, cute, voice giggled, as the boy fell over.
"You scared me," the boy said, relieved that it wasn't the creature that was in the bush.
"I know I did," Lily, the boy's best friend, smiled. "You always get scared. Now come and stay at my house, Severus."
The two walked, hand in hand, down Spinner's End, until they reached her house. Severus looked up at the house. This was his second home, and he loved being there. Especially when Lily was.
