Sollux was using his psionics. His eyes crackled with energy. You were expecting this. Obviously he was going to defend himself. This was a dual, not a backstabbing. You rose to his level using your science. This was going to be a fair fight.

Ready, be ready Eridan. You can do this. You can win this time. Then Fef… Would Fef ever love you again? Even moirailship would be nice. You missed her so much. So much.

Sollux released a burst of red and blue energy. You reacted quickly. Your wand released a burst of white energy. It matched his, grew, and engulfed him in white light. You tried to reel in some of the raw power. There was no use killing him. You watched as Sollux flew across the room, crashing against the far wall.

Good. The wand worked. You'd have to thank Kanaya again. Feferi stared in horror at Sollux. He wasn't moving. She turned towards you, eyes blazing. Wait, did you—Did the wand just—Was he-?

No. Fef was being stupid. She shouldn't have been so upset over just a lowblood anyway. Even if he was… Even if…

You raised your wand, intending to knock her aside as she leapt toward you, gripping her trident and roaring, slightly pink tears in her eyes.

You grimaced at the flash of pure white light as another burst of energy shot from the tip of your wand.

But then—

There was blood. Bright, magenta blood. Your eyes widened in shock. No. No, this wasn't supposed to happen. This was wrong. You didn't just ki—

No. Fef was the one in the wrong here. She broke your heart. She left you alone. She abandoned you when she knew full well that you had no one else to turn to. She had made the mistake, not you. She had forced your hand.

You turned toward Kan, now gripping her lipstick. She glanced at the matriorb briefly before taking a step forward. You sneered at her and with a flick of your hand the grotesque orb was gone in another flash of white. Kan stood in shock for a moment before she realized what you had just done.

Kanaya screamed, launching herself forward, chainsaw raised high above her head. Fefwaswrongnotyou. You raised the wand again. Itwasntyourfault youdidntwanttokillher. There was another white flash. NoitwasFefnotyou. Kan fell to the ground, jade blood seeping through her clothes and pooling around her. Youweresorry youdidntmeantohurtthem theywereyourfriends. You left Karkat standing there like the idiot he was and transportalized away to who-knows-where. Away. You needed to get away.

Fef… What had you done? Was she really dead? Did you kill her? You threw the wand away from you with a pained cry, curling into a ball in the middle of the floor. You didn't mean to kill her. You loved her so much. You wished Fef was there to hold you and shoosh you and tell you that it wasn't your fault.

But she wasn't there.

And it was your fault.

Because you couldn't control yourself.

Because you couldn't control that stupid science wand.

Because you were the Prince of Hope.

You retrieved your wand and stood once more, suppressing all thoughts of Fef and Kan and Sol and your mistakes. You couldn't think about them now. If you did, you'd shut down.

Because you were the Destroyer of Hope.
