Their warm breath, mixed with the cold air, formed fog-like tendrils that floated away into the night sky.
It had taken several hours to dig through the frozen ground to reach the decayed wooden coffin, a simple salt n' burn made more difficult by the sub-zero temperatures.
A heavy layer of snow covered the graveyard, hiding the tombstones beneath a thick Winter blanket.
Dean lit a match and threw it into the grave; flames leapt high to provide a welcome respite from the night chills.
"This is a hell of a way … to spend Christmas Eve Sammy," he groaned.
