Encounter at Ba Sing Se Poets Tea Shop

It was a fair weathered evening in the grand city of Ba Sing Se in the Middle ring. That is where their first encounter happened.

Sokka, Katara and Aang had decided that their first week in Ba Sing Se should be spent getting to know their new home. That is how the found this small, but homey Tea shop 2 blocks from their condo. Tonight however was open mic night for poets and musicians.

"So Katara, I know you write poems in your diary. I know! How about you read one! Who knows you could become famous!" Sokka said earning a death glare from his sister.

"Sokka what the HELL were you doing reading my diary!"

"I was just making sure that you weren't writing about boys, which you were!" Sokka said as he tried to justify his actions.

"Anyway, Katara I think you should. You're a wonderful writer." Aang said with a light blush.

"Well maybe not tonight. Maybe next week when we come back. Let's just enjoy the night k." Katara responded just as a portly gentleman stepped onto the stage.

"Good evening everyone! My name is Iroh and I am the owner of this shop. Welcome to Open Mic Night!" –Applause and snaps- "Our first poet to night is a special young man very dear to my heart….Zuko Pyre." Wolf whistles and snaps rang out and Katara was surprised to see a shy looking teenager around her brother's age step onto the small stage.

"Hello there, my name is Zuko. Ummm here's my poem for you al tonight. Ahem…"

One would say "I was lucky to be born."

Another would say "I was born lucky."

Fighting for everything I have, is not the way I want to live,

If I were never born, would your heart still be torn?

The first time you saw me you we so inspired,

Spinning, sweating, swooning

Not noticing the ill fitted fate before you,

Now that it's all said and done, will you ever forget what transpired?

Weep as you may,

The deed was done and separated we became,

As you swooned, sweated, spun

Now it is the web of lies that I know lay,

Like Another said, "I was born lucky."

But One said, "I was lucky to be born."

When he finished everyone erupted into hoots and hollers as he finished. He bowed with a small smile and left the stage. Katara was so captivated by his poem that the rest of the night was a blur. She resolved that she has to find out more about this troubled teen who caught her attention.
