Shippou clutched the bags of candy to his chest and ran. He couldn't believe his luck; Kagome had gone home and had brought back a bunch off stuff from her village and that big meanie, Inuyasha, had not gotten around to eating it! The little kit chuckled happily about his good fortune. There was enough good stuff there to even make that weasel Bankotsu happy. And as for Jakotsu, the object of his affections, he was sure to love the cherry flavored lip-gloss Shippou grabbed at the last minute. Since it was not food, he was not sure if they would like it, until he remembered Inuyasha asking Kagome if she had any. The last time she did, her lips looked pink and shiny and Inuyasha did anything she wanted without complaint.
So he ran through the lush green undergrowth, thinking happy thoughts about his precious butterfly and how nice it would be if he told that stupid weasel to go away. Shippou would even give him all the candy if he listened to Jakotsu and disappeared. So lost in thought was he, that when he left the forest, Shippou ran headlong in Bankotsu.
"Hey!" Bankotsu picked him up by the tail.
"Hey! Let go of me!" Shippou cried.
"Let him go, Aniki-cha," Jakotsu said. "He looks like he brought us something good."
"Yeah?" Bankotsu lifted him higher. "Well, what you know?" He grinned and set Shippou down. "Whatchya bring us this time, Kid?"
"Candy…" Shippou dropped his armful on the ground. "And this is for you, Jakotsu…" He shyly reached into his kimono and pulled out the lip-gloss, handing it to him.
"Thanks!" they chorused. And while Bankotsu helped himself to the candy, Jakotsu sat down and cuddled the kit.
Shippou felt like this really was his lucky day…
