A/N: I really should be working on my other stories, but I felt like doing a Smellershot One shot. Enjoy. Or try to, anyway. I don't own Avatar or any of the characters!
"Excuse me, young men, would you like to buy some fruit?" One Ba Sing Se vendor asked.
"You boys look like you could use some sweets!" Another called. Smellerbee clenched her fists together.
"How would you handsome young gentlemen like-"
"I'm not a boy! I'm a girl!" Smellerbee yelled, cutting off the elderly street seller. Her sudden outburst silenced those within 20 feet of her. They all stared at her, making her feel like a small ant. She took off running, immediately hearing Longshot's footsteps running closely behind her. When she got a small ways down, right in front of Iroh's tea shop, actually, he grabbed her shoulder and spun her towards him.
"Why does it bother me so much?" She asked her quiet friend. She looked into his eyes, rare tears welling up in them. "I'm not crying! I have dust in my eyes!" She defended as a tear slipped down her cheek.
"Don't let it bother you." His look read as he wiped the tear away with his thumb.
"It's so hard not too! Everywhere I go, I'm called a boy!" She said with more frustration than she intended. "Everyone thinks I'm a boy." She added as an afterthought.
"You know that's not true." His eyes told her as he put his arm on her left shoulder in a comforting gesture.
"Maybe not. But, sometimes, I just wish-"She stopped herself.
"You wish what?" He asked as he took a step closer to her.
"Never mind. It's stupid." She said, trying to dismiss the idea.
"Tell me, 'Bee." His eyes warned.
"I said never -"She looked at him again, and knew this might be her last chance to tell him. "I sometimes wish that a boy would treat me like the boys in the city treat normal girls. I sometimes wish that I was pretty and was actually interested in wearing dresses. But, most of all, I wish that my best friend would open his eyes and realize that I'm in love with him and would loved me back." She scoffed, "But that'll never happen." She said as she saw the shocked look in Longshot's eyes. The hurt in hers was unmistakable, and her heart felt like it snapped into a million pieces.
She turned to walk away, but he grabbed her wrist and made her look at him.
"All this time, I thought you loved Jet." He told her.
"Well you thought wrong. Please, this has been embarrassing enough. I know you don't like-" She tried to break out of his grasp, but he just grabbed the other one.
"Bee, shut up. I love you. You're beautiful, and please don't take liking to dresses. That would be weird. Sometimes you can be so blind! I've been in love with you ever since I became friends with you. Why didn't you say anything?" They both blushed. Right now, they were both out of their shells.
"I-I was scared." He wrapped his arms around her and she rested her head on his chest.
"Of what? You know I'd never hurt you." He pulled away slightly and looked her in the eyes.
"I know. But, I always thought that I wasn't good enough for you." She averted her gaze to the ground.
"You're beyond good enough for me! You're beyond good enough for anyone! 'Bee, you may not know it, but, you're beautiful. And don't change for anyone. You're perfect the way you are." He lifted her chin and brought his lips to hers. It was a simple kiss, both of their first, but to each other it meant the world.
"Ah, young love." Iroh sighed, taking a sip of tea and watching Longshot and Smellerbee through his shop window. He saw them pull back, and Longshot place a small kiss on her cheek.
The two Freedom Fighter's lips moved as one, saying the same three words
"I love you."
A/N: I thought it was cute! I just love these two together! Well, I hope you liked it! Review!
