She wasn't sure how to react, she had known Damon for a while now and yet even as she sat beside him in his car, she was completely unsure of how to react to the situation they had found themselves in. He had fought with Elena, grabbed her and they had taken off on a mission to find her long lost family.

"You know, we could always just explore New York or something right?" Her voice was soft as she stared at him, earning herself a scoff as the blue-eyed man glared at the road in front of him.

"You need to meet them Ness. You barely remember them and you need to know about what you are." His voice was hard, his emotion hidden with years of practice behind him and she frowns softly to herself.

"Damon, Stefan found me in the woods. Why would I have been there alone?" She asked, arms crossing over her chest as she shifted her eyes ahead of them where they were just entering the state of Alaska.

"Maybe you ran. Maybe someone took you and decided you talked too much?" He snapped, hands tightening around the steering wheel at the mention of his younger brother and she gave a small scoff.

The sound earned her a glare from the man as he drove them into a small town off of the highway, the drive falling silent as they both examined their surroundings. They had assumed Alaska was the place to go after she had had a dream of a woman's voice explaining to her that they were going to meet some friends there, if nothing else it would be a good starting point.

"We'll need to stop. Feed before we go searching." His voice had turned cold, the wall she was all too used to appearing again and with a sigh she nodded, leaning her head to the side to rest her temple against the cold window.

In no way was she excited to see the family she had lost, despite only being with the Salvatore brothers for a handful of years she had come to look at them as her family along with their friends. She vaguely remembered shimmering skin in the sun and flashes of gold, the feeling of some sort of soft fur and the nearly burning heat of arms around her body.

The few memories she had had been hidden a year ago, shoved forcibly to the back of her head when she realised that Katherine had been using them against her in the vivid and terrifying dreams. They had only stopped when the brothers had made a deal with her, not all that long after Damon had finally given in to her still childlike pleads and had begun staying with her during the night.

"Stop brooding kid." Damon spoke as he pulled the car into a park on the side of the road, seeming to had calmed down his raging emotions and she sighed as he got out of the car.

"I don't want to do this." Her voice was tired sounding despite the fact that she had actually slept most of their long drive from Mystic Falls.

"You need to live, don't you?" He snickered softly, smirk sliding into place before a sharp gasp to their right grabbed their attention.

She turned, feeling Damon catch her arm gently as their eyes reached a woman with bright golden eyes, soft curled baby blonde hair and an extremely shocked expression on her face. Damon instantly began to inch around her, grabbing the woman's attention and immediately beginning to compel her for information.

Instinctively she forced herself to glance around them, looking away from the two to confirm that they were indeed alone with the woman before moving around to stand behind her as Damon convinced her to get into the car. She seemed so taken by Damon that she barely even blinked when Renesmee got into the backseat and they began to drive, drawing a small snicker from her lips.

The smirk she received in the rear-view mirror made her laugh again, a smile on her lips as Damon continued to speak to the woman if only to make sure that the compulsion was working its magic as he skilfully took turn after turn in the direction the woman was saying they should go.

Renesmee wasn't sure how much time had passed, having fallen asleep in the backseat multiple times from boredom alone until a sudden shove brought her from her dreams of her life in Mystic Falls. Her eyes snapped open and she frowned softly at the growling sound that the woman was making from where she seemed to be glued onto the front seat.

"Wake up kid. We're nearly there and Miss Sunshine here is about ready to rip us apart." Damon smirked as he came to a stop at what she assumed was a resting area.

"They'll kill you for taking her." The woman suddenly hissed, a clear liquid leaking from her lips in a nearly rabid fashion and Renesmee found herself jumping back and away from where she still sat in the car.

Damon growled lowly, the vibrations bringing a sense of safety to her as he grabbed the woman's jaw to force it shut. Or that had been her assumption before he yanked the bone clear off, leaving a gaping gap where her jaw had been with more clear fluid leaking from as she screamed and gurgled in pain.

In the next blink of her eyes Damon was there, shielding her view of the wailing woman as his hands flashed over her ears while simultaneously shifting her back and away from the car. Swiftly she was spun around, her ears barely catching a gurgle before they were covered again by Damon's hands and then moved to begin walking again.

The sun was nearly rising when they stopped, her body nearly vibrating with energy as Damon pulled his hands off of her ears to reveal a calming silence as a few birds chirped nearly a mile away. He seemed pleased now, walking forward towards a river she had failed to notice.

Her eyes then shifted up, widening like saucers at the side of the monstrous building that stood there, all concrete and modern in a way that she hadn't expected for the middle of the forest in a state she had no recognition of ever being in.

The snapping of branches broke through her thoughts and she tensed as her hand latched onto Damon's now shaking one, whimpering at the sight of the fear and horror in the man's light blue eyes. She had never seen such a look before but didn't get the time to truly examine it before the thuds of feet behind her grabber her attention.

Renesmee turned swiftly and bared her teeth, the arm that had been holding onto Damon's hand now moving out behind his back as her own body moved to half shield the fear paralysed man before a protective growl left her lips at the sight of their attackers./p
