It was moments like this. When life was so sweet. When the children were just relaxing.

Nate and Eliot were watching football while shouting for their team to score. That was what they shared together. They both tried to act collected but as soon as their team made the score, out went all sense and the high fives and victory dances began. Then began the trading of money as the team they bet on won. It was what they did, it's what a father and son did.

Hardison who usually joined the men, was elsewhere. He didn't quite understand the game in general after all. He was a basketball boy. So instead of watching the game he was on the floor cress-cross with my girl. Parker had insisted we buy her some Lego seeing as we commanded her not to steal them. We were breaking her out of stealing such inexpensive things. The key word being inexpensive. None the less we had bought her some Lego. Hardison was having a hard time building anything while Parker was cool and collected as she built building after building. Letting the cereal beside her get soggy before she would eat it. She built a whole city while Hardison was trying to invent a building in general which he failed in frustration, making him drink furiously at the soda. It kinda made me chuckle. Even though they were both intelligent, Parker's years of experience of scouting buildings allowed her to be more creative. If creative was the right word. If you looked close enough you could see Parker was making a fairly good replica of New York city, marking the banks with a pacific bright color. Making sure the banks were notable.

It wasn't her building that interested me the most but, how they fit together. One was strong but when you put all the pieces together, They made buildings and cities and streets and towns. They made something beautiful. Something so unique that if you tore it down you wouldn't be able to get the creation exactly identical to the first. Something different.

And I you ask. I was hidden behind my book The Brute and the Bride, watching.Watching as the boys watched their game. Watching the chips fly off Nate's pants. Watching as my prince and princess built their kingdom. As they grew stronger and more collected. Like legos. My legos.
