The next morning, James woke up. He felt bit more livelily now that he had some sleep.
"Morning, James!"
"Good morning Percy- and everyone." James greeted the engines.
"How was your coal run last night?" Asked Percy, curiously looking at him.
"Oh it was splendid Percy!" James responded. I saw a fox last night, and I saw the stars sparkle over the sea.
The other engines as well as Percy were very interested to hear about this.
"I had no delays and no catastrophes either- as this railway's known for!" He smirked.
But his expression turned into a sad one.
"Percy wasn't there with me, and I missed him." He sighed sadly.
...
The engines saw that James was still missing Percy a lot on the coal runs, and as James and Percy went to go to work, the others discussed what they should do.
"There has to be something we can do!" Declared Edward.
"Indeed!" agreed Emily
"But what can we do?" Asked Henry.
Thomas was suddenly struck with an idea.
"I know! How about-"
He whispered his plan to the others.
They thought it simple but bound to work.
...
"It would mean a lot to him sir." Thomas finished.
"I see that Thomas- but I need another engine to take the mail."
"I'll do it!" Thomas volunteered immediately.
"Excellent- only don't tell him yet, we'll keep it quiet, alright?
"Okay sir!"
...
That evening, as the sun was setting, the Fat Controller spoke to the engines.
"Percy- Thomas will handle the mail tonight."
"But what do I do sir?"
"Simple- I'm putting you on the coal run with James tonight."
James was very happy to be working with Percy again.
And the little green engine enjoyed his run that night.
Well, a lot more than before!
