Handle with Care

Sam wiped away the blood with shaking fingers, the gauze he grasped saturating with the sticky fluid. Tossing it aside, he pulled the edges of the wound apart, pausing when Dean sucked in a breath. The muscle beneath his hands twitched, spasmed.
Sam went a little green around the gills when he glimpsed glimmers of glass deep amongst the gore. He grabbed a clean square, continued his ministrations.
"Dean?"
"Mmm?" Dean pried his eyelids apart.
"There's glass deep in the wound. I've gotta get it out. It's gonna hurt."
Dean gripped the sheets in his fists, knuckles white. "Do it."
