The Angel and the Spider

"Sweet mother of all that is holy!"

The shout woke Dean Winchester from his otherwise peaceful sleep, or at least as peaceful as it gets in the life of a hunter. The shout was filled with terror and, even more worryingly for Dean, it belonged to Cas.

Dean opened his eyes to the angel in a tshirt and boxers standing over the couple's bed, gripping his angel blade in both hands in a protective position next to his face. The point of the blade directed Dean's eyes towards a small, yet noticeable spider on the bedroom wall.

Dean saw that Cas was physically trembling with fear and put a comforting hand on the angel's shoulder. "Cas, it's okay, it's just a spider." Dean said in a calm, comforting tone. 'Not an Arachne or an eight legged Wendigo' He would have joked at this point, but he could see that Cas was scared to death so he left it out.

"It's not 'just a spider' Dean, it's a giant terrifying unholy beast!" Cas' reply was riddled with fear and he never took his eyes off of the creature.

"Do you want me to get rid of it?" Dean asked softly.

"Y-yes, thanks." Cas answered, slightly reassured. "Be careful Dean." The angel warned as Dean approached the spider.

"I've hunted worse on a good day Cas, I should be fine." Dean smirked as he grabbed a cup and a small mat to trap the spider. "So long, Aragog." He muttered as he threw the bug out of the window.

Once the spider was gone, Cas put his blade down on the bedside table but the poor angel was still tense with worry that there were more where that thing came from. Dean noticed this and pulled Cas into his arms. "It's okay Cas, no more spiders." He kissed Cas on the side of the neck. "I won't let anything hurt you."

The couple crawled back into bed and Cas snuggled up to Dean. "Thank you, for getting rid of that hell spawn, you're a true hero Dean."
