The singing birds the bubbling brook,
But my mind strays to risks we took.
*
Joyful cries and loving looks,
I hear pain filled screams, see black eyed nooks.
*
The gentle breeze the rooster's song,
My eyes see only dark journey long.
*
The child's laugh the soft grass,
My heart still lingers in shadows past.
*
Cobblestoned roads and Hobbit toes,
All I see are black army rows.
*
The petty gossip the simpleton's ignorance,
False and shadowy they seem my return since.
*
The glittering stars the tree's shifting gaze,
I remember being lost in hopeless maze.
*
The bright the good the healing rain,
Will never find me here through my pain.
