Title: What Hutch Knows

Rating: G I think. Shame that.

Pairing: Hutch / Starsky friendship, maybe more if you squint, but you'd have to really squint.

Warnings: Minor Starsky abuse, and based on the movie, not the show.

Author's Note: A tiny little snippet about Starsky and Hutch's partnership.

He had to admit, Starsky did make himself an easy target. That first time he had seen it, in the diner, it had been easy to laugh along. He hadn't known Starsky that well, hadn't felt any real loyalty to him. Though he realized quickly how hard the insults and teasing really hit Starsky, though he wouldn't show it.

There was a lot he could pick up about Starsky from just watching him. He acted like he was above everyone else but he desperately wanted to be accepted, he knew this because any time he offered to hang out when they weren't working Starsky nearly tripped over himself to accept the invitation. He notices that Starsky can't control his temper but doesn't have anyone there to help him get out of situations that he gets himself into. And he knows that Starsky is looking for someone to help him back out of situations, because he gets in over his head and has too much pride to back out. He knows that Starsky doesn't have any friends. At all.

He was easy to control too, for all his bravado and uptightness he was as docile as they came. He knew that Doby was surprised, though pleased, that he proved to have Starsky wrapped around his finger. He hadn't missed the look of shock Doby sent him when he managed to control Starsky with only a word when the other was losing his temper. A snapped order from him and David had grudgingly taken a seat, pouting up at him at not being able to act out his anger.

And David could pout.
