Hold on to me love
You know I can't stay long.
He could feel it. He could feel Sasuke knelt beside him, pulling him into his lap. He was alive, but just barely. Holding onto his breath, more then likely his last. Feebly, his hand rested on Sasuke's chest, lips moving, subconsciously forming silent words that he had hidden for so long.
All I wanted to say was
I love you and I'm not afraid, oh.
His hand fell away, only to be caught, squeezed in a vice like grip. He couldn't see anymore. Only hear, feel. It was cold, and what little heat he held onto was slipping further, and further away. He was slipping away, his last clutches on reality rushing from between his finger tip. Yet when he could feel the wet splatter of his face. Salty, like tears.
I know you hear me,
I can taste it in your tears.
It caused his eyes to open. Little it did though, he could only see shadows. Vague awareness of the form that huddled above him. He was more concerned with the harsh breathing he could hear echoing in the boy's chest.
He coughed, sputtered, blood running down his chin. His lips moved again, muttering his brothers name one last time, letting go of that last breath, his body finally giving in, going limp.
Closing your eyes to disappear
You pray your dreams will leave you here...
Sasuke's closed his eyes, clenching Itachi's hand with whatever strength he had left. Then he to gave into the weariness of his body.
...but still you wake and know the truth,
No one's there.
Though, when we awoke, he was by himself. Itachi was gone, and he was alone.
