Disclaimer: Stargate Atlantis and its characters don't belong to me.
He'd never had a real family. His friends were his family; and all he'd ever had were friends, but he'd do anything for his friends.
In Afghanistan, he'd risked his life and his career to save his friends. Nobody else would go, and his superiors wouldn't risk a rescue mission, so John took matters into his own hands. He failed to save his friends – his family – that day, but he wasn't going to fail today.
He was going to get Ronan back. Ronan was like a brother to him, and John wasn't about to let him down when he needed help. That's what family does; they stand by each other, and they don't give up without a fight. That's what he'd been trying to explain to Teyla, who had doubted hisconviction to rescue a man who was from another galaxy. But whatever galaxy they were from, they were his family, and he wasn't going to let them die.
John only hoped that he wasn't too late.
