Chapter 1; Focus
Percy swaggered down the halls. He put up his hood and noticed Nico and Grover chatting.
"Guys!" He yelled.
Grover looked up from carving some piece of crap outta a piece of wood.
"What Perce?" Grover giggles. It made it sound like Purse.
Percy just asked aggressively, "Wanna go G-Man? We all know I can take you." He flexed his muscles before sitting down.
Grover's face paled before going back into his originally twitchy face.
As much as Percy slapped him around he still thought it was great to have the G-Man around. Nico…not so much.
"Well Peruses what are we doing today?" Travis walked in.
Percy slammed his fist into Travis's puny face.
Travis just ducked. He was small and quick. The only reason he had chosen him to be in the Blood Gang of New York's city's bad part of the town.
Percy's fist went through the wall of the abandoned hotel they stayed at.
Percy hit again and this time Travis was not expecting it. It hit him in the eye.
"Ow." Travis muttered. He'd learned not to cry.
Jason came from the door, "Dudes quit throwing idiot punches. You will not believe what is outside."
Percy rolled his eyes. It was probably another chick like last time. Jason's always gets into trouble with the chicks. Last week it was some needle junkie named Reenya. This week it was some rich little daughter Piper.
"A girl?" Nico asks.
"A girl." Thalia mimics from behind. They all burst into laughter. Thalia and Nico were always at each other's throats. It was a thing that Percy liked. Something constant that never changed.
"No. It's another gang." Jason said calmly.
They all froze.
"What the **** are you sayin' man!" Percy demanded.
Jason put his arms up in the air, surrendering, "Dude. I don't lie right? I just sayin' what I saw."
Percy's temper flared.
"Percy's gone red." Nico snickered. "One reason I did not want a 14 year old in my gang."
Percy turned around and punched Nico. "Nico keep your slimy little self away from me. Leave. Now." He dropped his voice and the room went quiet. No one cared that Travis was faster, or that Thalia was great with throwing switchblades.
No, Percy wasn't fast, or the strongest.
He was the most determined.
And in the world of gangs, that is what they look for in a leader.
