Silence
That's all he heard around him. Nothing but silence. Everyone crowded around him, cheering for the other team.
Seirin.
The team that just beat his...team. Team. Aomine looked around at his teammates as the volume cut back into
his thoughts. They were all staring at him.
"What?" Aomine growled at them. "What the hell are you staring at?"
Then he felt the wetness. Bringing a hand up, Aomine touched his cheek. The wetness was coming from his eyes.
Tears were trailing down his cheeks. It wouldn't stop coming. More and more tears.
"Aomine," a soft voice called to him.
He turned and saw Momoi. She had her own tears in her eyes. Then his eyes moved to the girl standing next to
Momoi.
Sabaki Akira.
His girlfriend.
Her long waist length dark blue hair seemed unkempt and messy. Her dark green eyes sparkled with tears. She
also looked relieved. Like the weight of the world had been lifted off her shoulders. Why would she be happy?
That's what he asked her. She smiled as the tears spilled over down her cheeks.
"Your're free," was all she said.
Free. He repeated the word over and over in his head. Free, from what? Sabaki sniffed and smiled at the confusion
in his eyes.
"Do you still think you are the only one that can beat you?" she asked. Realization showed in his eyes as he realized
what she meant. He didn't feel that way anymore. Sabaki walked forward and hugged her boyfriend around the waist.
He hugged her back and rested his chin on her head.
Free.
Finally free.
