Drabbles – Chase – 300 Words

Aristotle sat on a bench on the top of the hill reading from a scroll. The morning sun felt warm on his bare shoulders and arms.

His quiet solitude was interrupted by the sight of two young figures racing across the meadow towards a grove of trees and bushes.

They were followed a short distance behind by a very angry Casssander. Apparently, Aristotle surmised, the culprits had been found out with 'the little snake in the box lesson' from yesterday in class.

Not to be left out of the fun, the rest of Aristotle's' student gave chase to fleeing boys.

Aristotle was about to get to his feet to go keep things from getting out of hand, when out of the brush, the last group to go in made a mad dash out. Hands and arms were flailing away to try and get to the front of the herd.

Aristotle stopped and watched as then Cassander made an appearance running as fast as his long legs would take him.

Only a few moments later, Alexander and Hephaestion sprinted from the grove trying to outrun each other as they made their way through the meadow.

Aristotle watched in amazement as the three groups began to converge, each one trying not to be the last in line anymore.

From the corner of his eye, Aristotle saw a big badger emerge from the place everyone had just departed, watching the fleeing boys running into the distance. He then calmly turned around and went back to his exploring.

Aristotle shook his head, listening to the distant sounds of chatter from his charges growing dimmer.

Life with Alexander and Hephaestion was always interesting and exciting. with never a dull moment. He couldn't wait to see how the world would survive with them chasing their dreams.
