5 years have passed since Nos-4-a2's demise, and many events have occurred since that. 42 returned to Star Command to stay with XR, Commander Nebula recruited more ranger novices, and Zurg was plotting a new plan for revenge. Zurg created the energy vampire Nos-4-a2 with the task of taking over Star Command, but he revolted and went off on his own, creating chaos and wreaking havoc across the galaxy. His reign of terror came to an end during his attempt to take over Planet Z, when ranger Ty Parsec, in Wirewolf form, impaled him, and was blown to bits in the explosion in Zurg's lair. Unknown to the Grubs, Zurg missed Nos-4-a2, believing that he would be fit to not only take over Star Command, but the entire galaxy alongside with him. He came to the decision to rebuild him, using whatever of the energy vampire's parts he found within his layer, and some human organs he kept in one of his secret compartments in the lab. Using the exact same plans he used to create Nos-4-a2, he began construct a new energy vampire with the same function as the predecessor: to take over Star Command, and an additional function: to turn Ty Parsec into a permanent Wirewolf and to bring XR under his control. When construction was complete, Zurg gazed upon his newly contructed Nos-4-a2. This Nos-4-a2 was not the same as the previous one. This one was biomechanical, giving him the characteristics and the ability to behave like a human, as well as the ability to turn into a human himself. This Nos-4-a2 could not only suck energy out of machines, but the blood of living things, like humans, dogs, and Jo-ads. This Nos-4-a2 could not only turn humans and other machines into wirewolfves, but also real werewolves. And this Nos-4-a2 no longer had male programming. This Nos-4-a2 had female programming, which would be an easy target for XR since women were his weakness. This Nos-4-a2, was a completely different, and newly improved energy vampire. Zurg was confident that the reconstruction and reprogramming of the now feminine Nos-4-a2 would be better than the previous, masculine, and sophisticated Nos-4-a2.
