The Scar

Summary: A poem about Auron's scar and how the age-old wound is nothing to be mocked

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the Final Fantasies or Auron. Tragic.

Note: I wrote this because I read a couple of FFX fanfics where the author insulted Auron's scar. I just feel that it's something almost sacred and shouldn't be insulted. Please review!

There was a man, old while young

Composed of pain, love, and war

Filled with memories, of songs sung

While young he dreamt so big, wanted so much more

And through the years, he fought many battles

He won many and lost a few

Clad entirely in his red and black mantle

Made two friends that made his old heart feel new

The man, his life was full yet hard

Auron was his name, proud and strong

And because of one fateful battle, his face became scarred

In my loving opinion, to insult such a hurt is just wrong

To say his face is ugly is a crime

It's beautiful, it's painful, it's a memory, it's him

I love his scar, as much as if it were mine

To mock a memory is just a sin

The scar on his face speaks of his immense loss and gain

It sighs of the battles he's lost and those he will fight and win

It speaks of the memories, the many memories of joy and pain

Truly, the scar isn't just on his skin, Auron is the scar

He's broken yet whole, indifferent yet overflowing with emotion

He's been here so long, done so much, he's traveled so far

He's been hurt in a way that cannot be healed with just a single potion

He hides behind the scar and yet he tries to hide the scar

Auron's face is dark and scarred and he frowns so darkly

But when he smiles, his face is suddenly young, and his eyes shine so brightly

The scar is what makes Auron who he is, his face is not that marred

Auron's scar is what makes him the man he is today

And I don't like it when people think it's horrible

It's symbol of his friends, his life, his memories that will not go away

Even though people may say it's ugly, I think the scar, like the man, is truly beautiful
