A/N: This is a short little drabble-like fic that takes place during/at the end of 'Dirty Loyal'(3x03). Minor spoilers for that episode. Reviews are appreciated, thanks. :)

"I'd have done the same thing for my partner. It's called loyalty."

"That's kind of ironic, from where I'm standing."

She could have believed him, if she wanted to. He's had a long past, but he always found a way to surprise her, to remain loyal to her. Lately, all of those courageous acts seemed to be nothing but a mere memory of an old friend she used to know. The old Cal wouldn't have done anything like this. Never.

Now, it was like she didn't know him anymore. Asking her to lie for a cop that he surely wanted to shag afterwards? She couldn't believe him anymore. She wouldn't.

But...

They were still partners, no matter what. He always got himself into trouble, while she always stayed out of it. Perhaps that's why he never had his loyalty tested; it was always her that had to. She always would be loyal, whether she believed he would do the same for her or not.

When it came right down to it, she would lie for him without a doubt, and she did. Would he do the same for her? She hoped so, but she'd never know.
