Together, the five friends completed their quest for the Shikon no Tama. Kagome purified it and instead of using it to become a full-fledged Youkai… it hung around the Priestess's neck on a golden chain.
And little Shippo cried. Because his friend could go home now.
Sango and Miroku were married one day, late in summer when the heat was cooling to golden fall and their house was done being built near the grave of the monk's father.
And little Shippo cried. Because he lost Kagome to school and the others to each other.
InuYasha went to live with Kagome in her own time, ruffled the small fox demon's hair and said: 'She needs me more than you. You take care of yourself.'
And little Shippo cried. Because he needed InuYasha, too.
Miroku and Sango had a baby, and when he smelled the blood, he cried. Because he knew Sango was hurting, and her tears weren't only from joy. And Miroku's sobbing wasn't, either. He hurt along with his wife.
And little Shippo cried. Because no matter what he felt his friends' pain.
The spring came back soon, and in the garden of their home Shippo held the baby in the sunlight while its parents visited with InuYasha and Kagome inside.
And growing Shippo cried. Because he couldn't be the baby or the adult, and that hurt.
Miroku came outside a few minute later and held both the baby and Shippo in his arms warmly. He asked: 'What's wrong, kid?'
And baby Shippo cried. Because he wanted to have a father and mother again.
He told the monk that, and the monk smiled gently and made a deal.
And Shippo's tears healed his heart. Because he was now this baby's big brother.

Oh my gosh… so short, I know! I realize it wasn't what you were expecting, Marie Nomad, so please review and then tell me how much you hate it and what I can do with it, okay? It's almost one in the morning right now, I started this about ten minutes ago after finishing my little "Loveless" story.
All you other readers, thanks for reading! Please review or else… well, you know.
I own nothing that you recognize.
