Only Us

Hey guys, I'm new to fanfiction, so please me honest in any reviews. I want to apologize in advance if my story is similar to any others on the site, I didn't see one, but I haven't read all fanfictions.

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Maximum Ride or anything related to the Maximum Ride series.

Fang POV:

I looked over at her. We were flying, and she almost looked relaxed. We're on the run again, but this time, it's just Max and me. The rest of the flock found their real families and decided to live with them instead of us. I can't say I blame them. I found my real family too, but I couldn't leave Max. She was too heartbroken already, and she doesn't know I found them. I hope Angel didn't tell her.

Max POV:

Fang is acting weird. He seems sad, almost like he regrets something. With Fang, it's pretty hard to tell though. I miss the flock. I'm happy for them, but I can't help but be somewhat jealous. Valencia Martinez is really nice, but now she wants to do tests on me all the time. I know she means well, but I can't take it. So now it's just Fang and me.

"Fang, do you want to stop for some food?"

Of course, he didn't answer. He just gave me a look that said, "It's up to you, I can always eat." I looked down and saw a Burger King, so we landed and went inside. I wasn't terribly hungry, so I settled for two burgers, 3 large fries, and 2 large sodas. Fang ordered the same, but added chicken nuggets. The whole time we ate, he stared at me.

"Uh, Fang? Why are you staring at me?" Yet again, no response. Just a shrug. He turned back to his food. As soon as we were down, we flew to a nearby cave for the night. Once we got inside, Fang started a fire while I looked up at the sky.

"You miss them." When did he get behind me?

"Yeah. Do you?" While I spoke, I turned around to look at him.

"Of course. But they're happy and safe."

Since when did Mr. Wall say anything involving emotion?

"They were our family."

"They still are."

Before I could even respond, his lips were on mine. In the past, I've ran away. But it felt right, so I stayed. After a few minutes of kissing, we pulled back and I spun around to look out the cave. Fang's arms wrapped around my waist, and we stared up at the sky, mesmorized by the stars.
