Smoke in the Snow
Disclaimer – Harry Potter is owned by J.K. Rowling and if I was her, I would not have to worry about my Midterms in two weeks.
Draco sighed, a trail of smoke dissolving in the air courtesy of his mouth. He took another long drag of the cigarette he was holding, causing another sigh and a slight cough.
This, the former-Slytherin thought to himself. might be one of the only things Muggles are good for.
He ignored the sound of footsteps quietly approaching, fallen snow making a small crunching sound. Yes, it was a week after Christmas yet the snow had yet to yield.
"You shouldn't be out here," came a voice he never thought he'd hear again. Draco whirled around and the newcomer continued on. "Smoking, nonetheless. Honestly, out of all the things to die of, you'd rather it be of cancer and hypothermia."
He smirked. "Still the same Gryffindor I saw three years ago, eh Granger?" Hermione's lips twitched. "Or is it Potter now?"
Brown eyes narrowed at sparkling grey. "You know as much as I do that he's been dead for 3 years." Her words were cold, unsurprising to the boy. Who could blame her, after her fiancée died in the final battle against Voldemort.
Draco chuckled, as cold as her words were. "A pity that Weasely was the one with his child and not you." You read right. Ginny was pregnant with Harry's child. "Her family was so delighted, weren't they? Ah, she claimed him first, didn't she?"
"Harry and I were engaged when the it was conceived." Three years later and she still would still not recognize the toddler as a proper human. "It is a bastard child, you and I are very much aware of that." It was the girl's turn to chuckle now.
"Oh yes, Ron turned against her, didn't he? If I recall, he and I were the only other two in the know of your engagement. Speaking of which, how has he been?"
"He and Luna just had a third. A girl, if I'm correct."
"And you always are." Hermione smiled faintly.
"Nice seeing you again, Draco."
"You too, Herm…and my offer still stands. Rent's roughly 350 a month."
Her lips pursed in thought at his offer of her moving in. She had declined even though she hated her apartment. Sure, it was nice but still lonely.
"…I'll think about it." Draco nodded and took another drag, offering it to the girl. She smirked slightly and took a small drag of it, closing her eyes and relishing it before snapping back to attention and putting it out. The man sighed at Hermione as her foot stomped out the last of it.
"You wasted a perfectly good cigarette."
"You wasted a perfectly good mouth." He smirked.
"Can't argue with that."
A/N: …confused?
Okay, here's the rundown: Draco, Hermione, Ron, and Harry were friends in Hogwarts. Harry secretly proposed to Hermione, got Ginny pregnant, and then died against Voldemort. Ginny told her family but Ron was the only one against her and left. He and Luna got married two years late and had a third child, as stated above, and they were still out of touch with Ron's family. Luna didn't know about Harry and Hermione's previous engagement until many years later. Draco and Hermione pursue their relationship.
Thanks for reading! xD Don't whine about OOCness, please. They're supposed to be that way or everything would fall apart. Tch.
