Summary: It's an ordinary morning in the FBI office...or is it?
"Good morning."
"Morning," Don replied, sitting in his chair, grabbing his mail and swinging towards Colby's desk. Colby's foot seemed to be tapping to some internal rhythm and a smile haunted the edges of his mouth. "You seem unseasonably cheerful."
"This sun is shining and I didn't have to make the coffee." Colby shrugged, the gesture a little self-conscious. "What's not to like?"
That brought a smile to Don's lips. A cheery FBI agent first thing of the morning really was a rare occurrence. "Okay, I can get behind that."
"Morning, Don."
"Hey, Megan."
Don started turning his chair in the direction of Megan's voice, but his momentum was suddenly stopped by a pair of very female arms wrapping around him.
"What theā¦"
Colby sniggered as Don looked around to see whether anyone else was watching. A few Agents' eyes quickly snapped back to what they were doing, but not before Don saw their grins.
"I thought we'd agreed to keep this out of the office," he said at a stage whisper, intentionally loud enough for Colby to hear and snigger at again. He might as well have some fun of his own with Megan's insanity.
She slapped him lightly on the chest. "Behave, you."
After giving him one more almost rib-breaking squeeze, which he returned with the pressure of his arms over hers, she let go and sauntered over to her own desk, sipping a cup of coffee. Don watched her with bemusement as David appeared and leant on the edge of Colby's desk. David looked at Don and then at Megan before speaking.
"She didn't."
"She most definitely did," Megan replied over the rim of her cup.
"Pay up." Colby held out his hand, palm up, until David pulled out some bills and handed them over, scowling.
"Want to let me in on what's going on?"
There was silence as the other three agents looked at each other.
"It's national hug your boss day," Megan finally said, spokesperson appearing to have been decided sub vocally. "Well, it's actually National Boss Day, but you're very hard to shop for, so I decided to go for something simpler."
Don rubbed the side of his neck and grinned. "Thanks, I guess."
"Just be grateful that they," Megan gestured in David and Colby's direction, "were too chicken to take part."
He almost snorted at that, but just managed to hold it in. "Thanks, guys."
"You're welcome," David replied, sounding relieved.
There was an awkward pause as they all looked at each other and Megan continued drinking her coffee.
"So, I don't even get any coffee on boss day?"
"Not unless you make a new pot."
