The Beach
A long stroGll on the beach was just what Subby really needed. A day of peace after the excruciating agony of abuse day after day was almost heaven. Subby had to live in such a world were Mortal Kombat fighters pounded him everyday for their own pleasure - and he was surprised he hadn't gone insane. The beach was pleasant however, and Subby needed to clear his head. Subby found the perfect spot in the sand and lay there, closing his eyes to the incredible heat of the sun.
"Do you mind if i sit next to you?" asked a familiar voice. Subby snapped his eyes open to the closeness of his companion - Grandpa Emerson. This shocked him and he almost cried in fear.
"Uh-okay."
Grandpa sat next to him, at an uncomfortably close angle. "May i ask you something, Sub-Zero?" questioned Grandpa, staring through his sunglasses at the beaten-down Mortal Kombat fighter. Subby decided not to use the 'but you already did' quote - and instead just nodded. He hoped to God that Grandpa didn't want to beat him up, because Subby was just too weak for another round of torture - and his fragility caused him to agree with most things said by people who made him unconfortable.
"Would you..." Grandpa stuttered nervously, "would you... be willing to... marry me?"
Subby choked. He was sure the old man was going to beat him senseless. Was this a joke? It had to be.
"Is this a joke, Grandpa? What are you trying to do?"
Grandpa took Subby's hand into his own, making the fighter tremble slightly.
"I can get you away from all this fighting," Grandpa began, "I would never dream of hurting you, Sub-Zero. If you lived with me, we could be happy together. Like Jack and Ennis, like... like Victor and the maggot... we could even have children if that's what you dream of! I love you Sub-Zero and i don't want you to get hurt anymore."
Subby was so shocked he didn't know what to say, but he loved the old man ever since he met him. And this time, it wasn't just his fragility which caused him to agree with this. "I do." he announced cheerily, pulling Grandpa into a tight embrace, knowing from this day forward there would be no more agony. "You can call me Subby, too."
