He was going to turn his feline friend into a flurry blue hat and wear it around like a king's crown. Or maybe make him into cat stew. Yes, cat stew sounds mighty delicious.
Natsu's eyebrows twitched in irritation as he watched the interaction between his favorite celestial mage and his adoptive son. Happy was shamelessly whining about feeling unwell and wanted Lucy to baby him until he felt better. That conniving ball of fur! Natsu knew it was nothing but a lie. Happy was feeling perfectly fine. He was only doing that to make Lucy shower him with all her attention.
He never should have admitted to Happy that he did indeed harbour feelings for his blonde partner. That was, by far, the biggest mistake he made in his life. The exceed spent the next few days teasing him about Lucy. Natsu didn't mind the teasing at all, really. He could just brush Happy's infamous "you liiiiiiike her" line off and pretended that he had absolutely no idea what was going on. The whole guild thought he was completely clueless when it came to the matters of the heart and he planned to continue playing the dense card for as long as he could.
What ticked him off the most was how increasingly clingy Happy had become. Happy realized that teasing wouldn't work against Natsu so he decided to piss the fire mage off by being all chummy with Lucy. That ungrateful little brat just had to rub it in his face by throwing him smirks whenever he flew into the girl's arms. He would complain to Lucy that he was cold or he just needed a hug and the blonde would gladly comply with his request. Natsu wanted to be hugged by the blonde too; but he knew he would get a taste of her "Lucy Kick" if he ever attempted to copy Happy's moves.
Natsu gritted his teeth when he heard Happy purr. The feline was now lying comfortably on Lucy's lap; she stroked his belly while talking to Levy. The cat let out a soft protest when her hands stopped moving, causing Lucy to resume her previous action. Contented, he flipped over and snuggled into her stomach. Happy then turned his head slightly towards Natsu and gave him a triumphed smile. It took all of Natsu's willpower to stop himself from wringing Happy's neck.
Happy was enjoying every bit of this. He loved seeing the array of emotions run across Natsu's face. Well, he asked for it. No matter how much Happy tried to talk him into it, Natsu refused to make his feelings known to the blonde. The only way to make Natsu confess was to make him jealous and it was clearly working. Happy smiled to himself; he had one more move up his sleeve. This was bound to make the dragon slayer explode.
Without warning, Happy leaped up from Lucy's lap and flew straight into her bosom causing the blonde to let out a surprised cry.
Natsu felt his entire body burst into flames. To make things worse, the stupid blue cat buried his face further into the girl's chest. That was the final straw. He could deal with Happy getting hugs and pets from her but no way in hell was he going to sit around and watch Happy violate his Lucy any longer. He would deal with the exceed later at night. He had more important things to do now.
He stormed up to the pair and yanked Happy away from Lucy.
Lucy looked at her partner in bewilderment, "What's wrong, Natsu?"
"You are coming with me."
The girl shrieked as Natsu threw her over his shoulder and walked out of the guild angrily.
He didn't notice the sly smile on the celestial mage's face and the thumbs up she directed to Happy before the doors closed behind them.
Fish over friends any time huh, Happy?
