Teddy's hair was pale blue, a clear difference from its normal turquoise. He was trying to keep it turquoise, but his emotions prevailed. All that mattered was that his hair didn't change colour. He was in a Muggle place, after all.
Harry had noticed the change as soon as Teddy had sat down at the table across from him, but hadn't said anything about it. They were in a small, old restaurant a few miles from London, eating greasy food that Ginny would disapprove of. Since Teddy was the one who suggested they go out for lunch, Harry was confident that whatever he wanted to share would come up sooner or later.
"How's the Auror work?" Harry asked.
"Better, now that I'm not sent out of country as much as before."
"That's good. I couldn't believe how much you were gone last year. And you were one of the youngest Aurors."
"Apparently, the reasoning was that a Metamorphmagus would be a big help on the missions."
"And they failed to realise you have a personal life."
"Exactly! And it was awful. I hardly had any time with Victoire. I was actually thinking about breaking up with her because of it. She deserves more than someone who has to travel all the time. Thank Merlin I thought to have a meeting with the Head."
"I don't think she knew the effects it was having on you," Harry said.
"Probably not. I'm trying not to be mad at her," Teddy added. "And you know what? I've been home for almost five months. Victoire loves it."
"You two really are in love, aren't you?"
"Yeah…" Teddy said, his cheeks turning red. "I'm starting to think… maybe I should propose."
"Well, don't come to me for advice on how to do so," Harry joked.
"I'm not kidding," Teddy said. "We've only really gotten back into a stable relationship for four months, and even though we've been together for years, it almost seems too early."
"Then tell me this: why do you want to marry her?"
"Because… I love her, and what other reason do I need? She's the first thing I think of in the morning, and the last thing I think of at night.""Then do it. Get a nice ring. Do something romantic. Whatever you do, just make sure it's better than what I did for Ginny."
"What did you do?" Teddy asked.
"I caught her by surprise after a Quidditch practise."
"That's not bad. Surprises are nice."
"She was still in her muddy Quidditch robes," Harry said, laughing. Teddy joined in too, all his worries about proposing temporarily gone.
