Zoe walked into a room in the TARDIS. It had been an uneventful trip, what with the yeti and all that. There was a lot on her mind so she didn't immediately realize the room she entered wasn't the one the Doctor was letting her use. She turned to leave but stopped when she heard little breaths of air going in and out of something and noticed the quilt on the bed was slowly rising and falling. Something dark stuck out from one side.
"Hair?" she whispered when she felt it, thinking a small yeti had stowed away in the room.
Slowly she pulled the quilt back only to find the Doctor curled into a ball, his eyes closed, exhausted. One hand clutched his recorder, apparently signaling he had played with it or was going to play with it before drifting off. From what she had concluded this was a rare occurence, a Time Lord sleeping. Zoe was torn between thinking it was cute and being worried for him. Eventually she decided on both and turned to leave. She was almost out the door when she heard his voice.
"Zoe?"
"Sorry, Doctor," Zoe said. "I didn't mean to wake you up." The Doctor sat up and stretched.
"It's all right, dear," he said. "It was just a little nap. After the escapade with the yeti, I felt like a rest. Has the TARDIS landed yet?"
"No, Doctor. I'm afraid we haven't."
"I see, thank you. What's Jamie doing?"
"I have no clue." The Doctor grinned.
"Well, you can never be too sure wiht boys, eh?" He laid back down. "I think I'm going to rest a bit more. Please wake me when the TARDIS lands."
"Yes, Doctor."
"Oh, and if you see Jamie, tell him not to touch any of my things."
"I will." Zoe left, leaving the Doctor once again curled into a ball under the quilt.
"Ah, young girls," he muttered to himself, placing his recorder on the beside table. Before falling back asleep, he restated, "Particularly Zoe. So simple yet so difficult. So naive yet so smart..."
