Jack continued to pray for Elizabeth to survive. Julie and Rosemary brought the triplets every day to see Jack and be near their mom, hoping it would help her wake up. "Please Father, I beg you." Jack prayed "Let my wife survive.
7 months with her as my wife is not nearly enough. I would trade places in a heartbeat if it meant she would get to see our 3 beautiful children grow up. Grace, Charlotte, and Patrick need their mother heavenly Father. And I thank you for the fact that they are Thornton's and not Jake Garrisons. Please, please bring my darling Elizabeth back to me. We should have many more years ahead of us father." Jack's mother walked in and shooed him away from Elizabeth's side.
"Jack, go get food. I know you love her, I know you want to be right next to her. You need to keep your strength up for Grace, Charlotte, and Patrick. They need their father as much as their mother. I will notify you immediately if there is any change in her Jack. I care about her, I love her too son. She is the mother of my grandchildren and your soul mate. I believe God will spare her, but you need to take care of you right now." "Yes mom" Jack said, too weak to fight. A quick bite, and then I am coming back here. I would ideally like Elizabeth moved to the house, but I understand in her delicate condition she can't be moved." Jack walked to Abigail's cafe while Charlotte sat with his wife.
"Jack," Abigail said "It's good to see you grabbing a bite to eat. We will be holding a prayer vigil tonight for Elizabeth, is that ok? " "Of course Abigail" Jack said weakly, "I pray she wakes up EVERY day. She has been like this for a week. The kids are thriving with Rosemary and Julie looking after them, but I would rather it be their mother. I don't know what I will do if I lose her Abigal." Jack's voice broke and he started crying. It was the first time anyone in Hope Valley had seen him cry. "Jack," Abigail said "I believe God will spare Elizabeth. You and she were meant to be together. He wouldn't have you come this far, get married and have the triplets IF it wasn't meant to be Jack. You need to hold onto your faith. It's what Elizabeth would want." "Thanks Abigail" Jack said as he finished eating. He hadn't even noticed he had been eating through the conversation.
Jack headed back to the infirmary his heart heavy. He suddenly made a turn, ran to his and Elizabeth's home. He grabbed a clean dress and undergarments for her. His eyes lingered on a picture of her, and he said as he passed by,
"I love you sweetheart, you are my sun, my moon and my stars. I need you with me to help me raise the triplets, so you need to fight this. You NEED to come back to me Elizabeth." Jack left the house quietly, locking the place up and went back into town with the clothing. He saw people gathered around outside the infirmary no candles in their hands. He heard one of the babies cry and ran into the infirmary to see what was going on. "Jack" he heard his name and froze.
"Elizabeth?" He whispered, not daring to believe she was awake and talking. "Elizabeth!" suddenly he realized she WAS awake. He ran over to her bedside and kissed her passionately but carefully and tenderly. "OH sweetheart! I thought I was going to lose you. I couldn't bear the thought that I might have to raise our 3 children without you." "Three?!" Elizabeth exclaimed in shock "We had three children?" "Yes, Patrick Leland, Grace Rosie, and Charlotte Ann. Two girls,
who are ABSOLUTELY beautiful, just like their mother. And a handsome, strong son. Who I might add, my mom proclaimed all three children look just like you and I." "Oh Jack!" Elizabeth said "I am so happy, I would love to see the babies,
but right now I need to rest. Will you stay by my side please darling?" "Oh of course I will sweetheart" Jack said "Of course I will. I love you, and I will never leave you."
