Emma really didn't expect anything from her day. She didn't have any high expectations; she was just going through the usual stuff. Getting coffee from Granny's diner, saying hello to Henry, arguing with Regina about Henry, and then heading off to work. She was used to the routine and didn't think her day would be any different than the rest. The greatest change would be if Leroy wasn't found drunk in at the police station.
Which is why she was shocked when she was leaving the diner to see Hook standing at the door.
Hook, as in Captain Hook.
As in the guy who was supposed to be in Fairy Tale Land.
As in the guy who tricked them.
As in the guy who Emma kinda left tied up in the giant's castle.
As in the pirate who might want payback now.
Hook, with his stance at the door and his hook pointing her direction, giving Emma a smoldering look.
If this was a cartoon, Emma would've thrown her hot cocoa in his face, slammed the door shut, threw all the tables at the door, and made Regina zap Hook away back to fairytale land before he had the chance to say 'it's Captain Hook'.
Alas, she was in the real world, sort of, and right now she only had the hot cocoa and a gun. The gun would help, but Hook was too close for her to reach it without him noticing. And besides, Regina would have thrown Emma away with Hook if she knew how much Hook wanted his payback.
So all Emma could really do is huff loudly as the diner door closes behind her and is left standing alone with Hook outside. This was good, since she didn't want any of the diner patrons to get caught in the crossfire.
"Now, now. Where are your manners Swan? I thought I'd get a nicer welcoming than that. Maybe a drink or two, since you left me high and dry up on the beanstalk."
"What do you want Hook?"
"I recall that you owe me a favor. There is something I wanted from you a long time" He takes a casual step forward, "and now I've come to take it."
"Oh, and I'm supposed to give this to you willingly?" Emma scoffs as she takes a step backwards. The diner's bells rang as she hit the door, and Hook smirks as he takes another step closer.
"It's payback. You owe me." He tells her seriously, and he looks at her properly now, "Swan, you owe me at least that." She then notices the gashes on his arms where she shackled him, and the nasty bruise on his forehead. Still, that didn't mean anything.
"So, what? You're going to chain me to the diner?" She asks him.
"No. I have something better in mind." And with that mysterious threat, he grabs Emma by the leg with his hook, and Emma swears at herself for falling for that trick again. She tries to balance herself to not fall and at the same time release her leg from his hold. She starts pulling away when he reaches for her head with his other hand. He has a tight hold and Emma closes her eyes, embracing herself for the punch that was to come.
Instead, she feels something light and warm brushes her mouth. Something she really did not expect.
He kissed her.
He was kissing her.
Oh God, he was kissing her.
"That was for the beanstalk, Emma." He tells her when he takes a breath. With her eyes still closed, she can sense his smirk.
.No.
Payback my ass. Emma thought as she opens her eyes and Hook lets go of her leg. He grins and before Emma could punch him he disappears in a purple swirling mist.
Emma ignores Dr. Whale whistles from inside the diner. She tries to ignore that her cheeks were blushing bright red. Worst of all is that her hot chocolate drink is all spilled on the floor from when she dropped it and grabbed Hook. Though she forgot that little detail while they were kissing and wonders how it ended up there in the first place.
