Some People Change

A man is arrested after refusing to serve Fin and another one of his black friends. After the long day was over Fin went to church to be alone with his thoughts. The man's son who also was a racist to an extent came in as well. He sat behind Fin.

His old man was a rebel yeller,

Bad boy to the bone,

He'd say can't trust a colored feller,

He'd judge him by the tone of his skin,

He was raised to think like his dad,

Narrow mind full of hate,

On the road to no where fast,

Until the grace of God got in the way,

And he saw the light,

And hit his knees, and cried, and said a prayer,

Rose up a brand new man,

And left the old one right there,

As Fin got up to leave the young man reached his hand out to shake Fin's. They walk out of the church talking about the day.

Chorus:

Here's to the strong,

Thanks to the brave,

Don't give up hope,

Some people change,

Against all odds,

Against the grain,

Love finds a way,

Some people change.

Olivia was sitting in her kitchen with a half drunken bottle of Jack Daniels on the table in front of her.

She was born with her mother's habit,

You could say it's in her blood,

She hates that she's got to have it,

As she fills her glass up,

She'd love to kill that bottle,

But all she could think about,

Is a better life, a second chance,

And everyone she's letting down,

She throws that bottle down,

As the bottle crashes to the floor Elliot rushes in and embraces her. She cries in his arms.

Chorus:

Here's to the strong,

Thanks to the brave,

Don't give up hope,

Some people change,

Against all odds,

Against the grain,

Love finds a way,

Some people change.

Thank God for those who make it,

Let them be the light,

Let them be the light,

Some people change,

Chorus:

Here's to the strong,

Thanks to the brave,

Don't give up hope,

Some people change,

Against all odds,

Against the grain,

Love finds a way,

Some people change.

Some people change

Fin and the young man say their goodbyes and part their separate ways.

Elliot holds Olivia in his arm and kisses her head reassuring her that everything would be all right.
