If you looked up you could just see the silver glow of the moon. The very same moon whose beams danced on the forest floor. As two figures lay in bed...just enjoying being together.
"I love you," he whispered huskily in her ear, making her give an involuntary shiver, "to the moon and back." She'd never answer immediately in kind. She'd stay silent, pretending she hadn't heard. They were each other's world. She meant everything and more to him, and he was her everything. She'd always mull over his statement and give the same answer, a response in kind. But not tonight.
"Just to the moon?" She played hurt. He laughed. He knew she'd heard him.
"To the ends of the universe and back?" He tried again. She shook her head slowly. Smiling she rolled onto her back.
"Impressive, my love. But even I can do much better than that." She said. He doubted she could better him, but he was willing to let her try. After all what would life be without a little challenge?
"How much do you love me?" He asked, she giggled and rolled over so she was facing him, her dark eyes sparkling with mirth. She leaned in so her mouth was next to his ear.
"I love you all the way into and out of eternity," she whispered her warm breath tickling his neck. He sighed softly.
"You tempt me too much, my love." He whispered to her, his voice husky again, she moved so that her head lay on his bare shoulder, her dark hair splayed behind her on the pillow.
"Jasper – my Jasper – I live to tempt you and you only." She whispered it so quietly that he almost missed it. He pulled her closer.
"I love you in kind – into and out of eternity." He kissed her head and soon enough both were fast asleep.
