A Mixed Movie Review
This is a movie review about (The Lion King) (How to Train Your Dragon 2). The hero of the movie is (Simba) (Hiccup), the son of the wise and powerful chief, (Mufasa) (Stoick). The hero's father is trying to prepare his son to follow in his footsteps and become chief someday, but the son has no use for responsibility and just wants to have a good time. The son has a cute girl friend, (Nala) (Astrid), whose hair is lighter-colored than his, and whom he's known since early childhood. They're not thinking about marriage, even though everyone around them assumes they will pair off eventually.
The villain, (Scar) (Drago), who has a scar near his eye and wants to take over everything, tries to kill the hero by using the (wildebeests) (Bewilderbeast). The father dies instead, while saving his son's life. Apparently, leaving the hero in the middle of nowhere is just as good as killing him; the villain and his assistants don't finish the job. The disconsolate (Simba) (Hiccup) speaks to his dead father, questions who he is, and admits he can never be as good a chief as his father. Meanwhile, in the middle of nowhere, he has also met (Timon and Pumbaa) (Valka), who loves the carefree life and encourages him to do the same. They begin to bond together during a scene that involves eating. But when the hero realizes that his tribe's well-being depends on him alone, he resolutely decides to go home and face his destiny.
When he gets home, he finds the place already trashed by the (hyenas) (Bewilderbeast), and the villain has taken over. (Scar) (Drago) is surprised to see him alive, and temporarily turns the (lions) (dragons) against him, but the hero is able to turn the tables on him in an emotional confrontation. This leads to a climactic final fiery battle in which we don't actually see the villain die, but it's presumed that he was killed by (hyenas) (drowning). Then (Simba) (Hiccup) symbolically accepts the role of chief, and all the (lions) (dragons) roar their approval. At the end, it looks like life has returned to normal, with a reprise of the beginning scene of (presenting the lion cub) (dragon racing).
The main theme of the movie is (Simba's) (Hiccup's) journey to adulthood. Characters like his father, his father's advisor (Zazu) (Gobber), and the mystical (Rafiki) (Gothi) can encourage him to do what he was born to do, but he must make the decision himself, and it takes his father's death to make him accept who he really is.
This was an awesome movie. There's absolutely nothing else like it.
