Um…just a random how Kairi met Sora story.
Sora
A branch snapped, falling to land on the rocks below.
Oh good. Kairi thought giddily. One less for me to hit when I fall.
Her palms slipped on the branch she was holding onto, and she let out an involuntary scream as she grabbed the next one. She clung to it, breathing hard. Eventually she opened one eye, and looked down.
Think positive, Kairi. You haven't hit the ground. You're still nice and safe up your tree. A gust of wind rocked the tree. She closed the eye.
…but, on the other hand, this branch isn't going to last much longer. And there are no more below it.
So…basically, I'm dead.
Why'd she followed them? Even at the time she hadn't known why, just decided to find out what they were doing.
With hindsight, following the people who hated her for being different, were older than her, and, more importantly, bigger than her, hadn't been the best idea she'd ever had.
Shame it's the last one I'll have.
This was so stupid! She was dangling from a tree like some weird-shaped fruit, waiting for the tree to dump her on the rocks below, all because she'd decided to stop Emily from killing a poor little bird. So once the bird had flown away, Emily had shoved her, hard.
Right over the edge of the cliff, and into a tree.
Why does she hate me so much? The branch splintered. Kairi screamed.
I don't want to die!
The branch broke. Kairi, still screaming, fell.
And hung in mid air, her arm aching, waiting to hit the ground. After a moment, she opened her eyes.
She looked into a face with spiky hair and blue eyes, lying flat on the edge of the cliff, hanging onto her arm.
I know you. You live near me, and you're friends with what's-his-name, the kid with grey hair? Riku? But who're you…
The boy started to pull her up, back over the edge of the cliff. Kairi used her other arm to help, and ended up sat on the top of the cliff.
"You okay?" The boy looked worried.
Kairi nodded, then realised she was crying. She wiped away the tears.
"You're Kairi, right? Mum told me."
"I don't know your name. I've probably heard it…"
"I'm Sora."
"Thanks, Sora."
He laughed, and got up.
"Hey, do you want to come see something? I found a cave, and I'm going to show Riku. He'll be on the beach." He held out a hand to help her up. "Coming?" His grin was infectious.
"Try and stop me." Sora gave it some thought.
"Well, I could…push you back over the cliff. Or we could go find Riku."
"Lets find Riku. I've had enough of dangling from a tree."
Kairi followed Sora down the path.
"You'll like Riku. He's older than us, but he's great fun."
"You sure he'll like me?"
He stopped.
"'course he will. He likes my friends."
Friends?
I guess him helping me makes us friends.
"Race you!" Kairi automatically tore off after Sora down the beach, laughing.
None of her other friends had done stuff like exploring caves or racing each other.
Or rescuing each other from trees.
I think I'm going to like being friends with Sora.
But I might avoid the trees.
