A/N: Hey guys! I'm gonna give it a go on Sky High! Let me know what you think!
Adam P.O.V
"Oh my god! Did you see her hair? Dye is SO last season!"
I snarled, pinching the bridge of my nose. Fucking Penny. She never hesitates to give me a headache.
"Just a year left Brisingr," I muttered to myself, "Senior year. You can make it"
I snarled at the passing freshmen, making some of them back away. A few stood their ground, possessing the misguided thoughts that they could defeat me.
Being a senior was epic.
Being a senior with super powers was even better.
Here at Sky High, we are taught to control our powers, and to be the best heroes we can. In our freshman year, we are sorted into either hero class or sidekick.
Excuse me, I meant "hero support".
I belong to the former class. With my powers, I'm not surprised. I nearly gave Coach Boomer a heart attack.
Flashback
"ALRIGHT FRESHMEN!" a tall man wearing gym attire and a blue hat stood on top of a small platform, "LINE UP AND PREPARE FOR POWER PLACEMENT!"
A bunch of frightened freshmen cowered in their place. One at a time, they left their huddle to go up to the platform to be judged.
A younger version of Adam Brisingr stood cowering among the rest of the students. He noted how several kids seemed confident in their abilities.
There goes a girl who can mimic voices
"SIDEKICK!"
Someone who can control earth
"HERO!"
Will Stronghold, the boy with super parents, yet, no powers.
"SIDEKICK!"
"Next, we have a Mr. Brisingr!" Coach Boomer scanned the room.
I raised my hand
"That's m-me sir," I said sheepishly
"Little Adam," he mocked, "So what's your power? Stammering?"
I shook my head as a I climbed the stairs
"I am a shape-shifter," I explained
"Alright," he smiled humorlessly, "Shift!"
"Uh," I murmured, "You might want to step back,"
Coach Boomer rolled his eyes and walked off the platform. I stood up straight and clenched my hands into fists.
Yesss, a voice inside my head hissed, releasssse me
I embraced the fire within and felt my bones changing shape. A familiar heat spread up my arms as they changed. Shiny obsidian-colored scales adorned my arms, coating them in their protective shape. The same thing happened to my legs, which were now growing in size to fit my muscles. My facial structure shifted as the bones changed in length and density.
I growled, feeling my vocal cords shift to a much deeper tone. Long jagged white spines grew along my back. My feet and hands shifted in shape and grew long white claws. I fell to the floor on all fours. My tailbone shifted and grew into a long tail. I felt a sharp pain along the base of my new tail. A long shard of bone protruded from the tip. It curved into the shape of a scythe. I opened my now golden eyes to admire the shocked face from the others.
I had transformed into a ten-foot long dragon with a ten foot wingspan. Black, shimmering scales adorned my body, with white spikes and black wings. My pearly teeth were displayed in a small dragon-like grin.
Well? I sent my thoughts to Coach Boomer
"CAR!" he yelled to no one
He pressed a button on his remote. I glanced up and noticed an old clunker falling from the ceiling. I stood on my hind legs and caught the car. I snarled as Boomer lifted it back to the ceiling.
"HERO!" He shouted, sending out a sonic boom.
I shifted back into my human form, shuddering as I felt the animal being caged back up inside. I climbed back down from the podium.
"Hello hero class," I whispered to myself.
End Flashback
And that's how I wound up as one of the most unusual heroes in the history of Sky High. Many shape-shifters changed into actual animals. There are very few that can shift into mythological animals, although I do recall one person being able to turn into a phoenix. I had learned to control my powers more over the last two years. Instead of turning into my full dragon form, I could shift certain parts of my body. My senses even heightened up to ten times to normal human senses.
"Let's just get this over with," I muttered to myself, heading to the main lawn.
"Hello Freshmen!" I heard a voice call
I glanced over to the now clustered group of freshmen. They were being herded by a thick kid in a black jacket and hat.
"Speed," I rolled my eyes, "which means Lash shouldn't be far behind. Stupid bully fuckers."
Sure enough, as soon as those words left my mouth, a taller senior came doing backflips down the stairs. His body stretched out to three times his normal length. He had shaggy brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a skull shirt over a black and white striped shirt. Tyson "Speed" Benjamin and Jason "Lash" Arrington, A.K.A, the bullies of Sky High.
"Welcome to Sky High!" Lash flipped his hair out of his eyes, "We are your personal Welcoming Committee!"
He stretched his arm in front of a smaller boy wearing a purple shirt.
"We'll be happy to collect the 15$ fee!" Speed stated with a smile
I let out a small chuckle. They tried this two years ago, and Gwen stopped them.
"Alright," I stepped in front of the smaller boy and Lash's arm, "Leave the fishes alone, guys."
Both glared at me. Lash moved his arm from the purple kid back to his side.
"Just wait until Save the Citizen, Brisingr!" Speed cried as he ran back into the school.
I smirked at the retreating villains and ran my tongue over my pierced lip. I turned back to the freshmen.
"Wow!" the purple kid exclaimed, "How'd you get them to run away?"
I shrugged and turned back to the entrance of the school. I hoisted my backpack up and looked around the lawn.
"Well," I said to the kids, "Your actual welcoming party should be here by now, but I think she's busy sucking face with her boy toy."
"HEY!" a higher voice called, "Don't go around spreading rumors like that, Adam!"
I smiled at the approaching red head. Her bright green eyes shimmered with light anger and humor.
"Sorry Layla," I muttered, scratching my pierced eyebrow, "But it is true."
"Oh please," she rolled her eyes, turning to the freshmen.
"Sorry about that, guys," she said sheepishly, "I was running a little, uh, late."
I chuckled, and began to walk back into the school. I had to dodge Lash and Speed several times. They didn't appreciate the fact that I talked down to them in front of the freshmen. Ever since the Homecoming incident, and their year in jail, Lash, Speed, and Penny came back to finish their senior year. Will and the gang were hesitant, but when they noticed that Lash and Speed just wanted to be harmless bullies again, they stepped back.
"Let's see," I muttered to myself, "Mad Science with Medulla again?"
"Ah," said big-headed man greeted me at the door, "Welcome back Mr. Brisingr."
I placed a huge smile on my face, causing him to frown.
"Great to be back, Professor!" I said in a sing-song voice, "I can't wait to learn the difference between rays and beams!"
"Well then," Dr. Medulla said sarcastically, "Good to know."
I carefully made my way to the back of the classroom, dodging any students that were using their powers to goof off.
"Adam!" someone called, "Think fast!"
Trent Anderson, another senior in the hero class, sent a small laser out of his eyes at me. I barely had time to grow my wings and place them around myself. The bright red laser rebounded off my scales and shot around the room, until it hit a lit Bunsen burner and caused a small explosion.
As the smoke cleared, faster than it should have thanks to my wings, I began to laugh at the student's confused facial expressions. I would have kept laughing if Dr. Medulla hadn't placed his hand on my shoulder.
"The first day back and you're already getting into trouble?" he asked with a happy grin on his face, "That's not how a hero should act!"
I sighed.
"Principal's office?" I asked, already knowing the answer
He nodded, that same smile still on his face.
"But I didn't even do anything!" I claimed, "Trent's the one that fired the laser!"
Dr. Medulla frowned
"Yes," he agreed, "but you're the one who deflected it with your scales. Now shoo!"
He pushed me out of the lab, leaving me in a deserted hallway. I growled and snarled to myself the entire way to the principal's office, cussing out Medulla for being such a douche sometimes.
Sure, he was pretty funny during class, but if you're the one he's mad at, he could make you cry.
"Mr. Brisingr." A calm voice shook me from my thoughts, "Dr. Medulla said you would be here."
I felt my eyes shift from ice-blue to molten gold. I tried to make a smile on my face to lady in front of me, given the fact that she was the principal after all, but the most I could manage was a grimace.
"Hello Principal Powers," I muttered, "Could I explain the situation?"
Principal Powers, one of the most level headed teachers here at Sky High, waved her arm. Her brunette hair was woven into a tight bun.
"No need," she smiled, "You were in no real trouble. Dr. Medulla was just having some fun."
I immediately regretted all of the horrible things I called Medulla on my way here. It was all a simple plot to get me to talk to Principal Powers. My eyes changed back to their normal blue color.
"Okay," I said awkwardly, "What do you need?"
"Well," she led me into her office, "We have a new transfer student."
A transfer student? I haven't heard of a transfer student. Usually, a person's powers show up when they hit puberty.
"Where are they?" I asked, looking around her spotless office.
"SHE is right here," Principal Powers pointed to a chair in her office, where a beautiful girl sat.
She looked unusual, that's for sure. She had bright purple eyes and pitch black hair. She also had two tattoos on her hands. They were in the shape of stars. She stood up at about 5'3, quite short compared to my 5'11. She had an athletic build, along with killer curves. Her wardrobe was simple, a lavender tank top and black shorts combined with simple black converse.
"Meet Angelina McLine," Principal Powers introduced us.
"Hello," she whispered, sticking her hand out, "Pleased to meet you."
"Adam," I grasped her hand, "Adam Brisingr."
Principal Powers smiled at us, pleased that I was welcoming her so easily.
"Welcome to Sky High Angie." I muttered, "Be prepared for the ride of your life."
Angie P.O.V
I ran my fingers through my hair nervously. I can't believe I was starting a new school my senior year.
Scratch that; I couldn't believe that I was starting my senior year with super powers. Apparently I had my powers for about a few months now, and I received my letter for attending Sky High over the summer. I met with Coach Boomer a few days before school started and had my power placement.
Flashback:
"So," Coach Boomer greeted me, "You must be the transfer girl."
I nodded, too scared of this man in front of me to do anything. He lifted an eyebrow and gestured for me to speak.
"Power?" he asked, looking down at his clipboard.
"Uh," I looked at the floor, "I can heal people,"
"Well then," he smiled, "you can help Nurse Spex with some of the injuries."
I nodded and looked back up.
"That's not all," I admitted, "I can also, um, increase someone's power."
Coach Boomer raised his eyebrows.
"Really?" he asked scribbling some more on his clipboard, "Interesting."
I bit my lip and nodded, waiting for him to reach a decision.
"It's official," he said to me, smiling again, "SIDEKICK!"
I blinked several times, waiting for the ringing in my ears to stop. I then calmly got up and left the room, too confused to think.
End Flashback:
Now I was nervously waiting for the Principal to show me around the school. Many students passed by the office, giving me strange looks. Not many people have seen me before, and to most people, I looked even weirder because of my lavender eyes.
"There you are!" I heard a lady say behind me, "You must be Angelina McLine."
I turned and smiled at the principal. She was a pretty lady. She had light brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a striped suit and black high heels. She smiled at me and held out a hand. I grasped it and shook her hand.
"Hello," I smiled lightly, "You must be Principal Powers."
"I am," she smiled back, "Welcome to Sky High!"
She led me into her office and told me to sit in a chair and wait for my guide around the school. I walked around her office, looking at other pictures. Several pictures had Principal Powers shaking hands with various people in brightly colored outfits. One such person was wearing a red, white, and blue outfit.
"So, you've never seen the Commander before?" Principal Powers' voice interrupted the silence.
"No," I shook my head, "My parents are both non-powered. It was a complete shock when my powers showed up."
"I understand," she sat down across from me at her desk, "Several students have a normal parent."
"But two normal parents?" I asked, "That sounds suspicious to me."
Principle Powers nodded, and looked outside the door.
"Ah," she smiled again, "Your guide is here!"
She paused, her smile widening as she let out a chuckle.
"I have a feeling that you two will be the best of friends!" she stated, walking out of her room.
I sat back in the chair, waiting for whoever would come in the office.
"Where are they?" I heard a deep growling voice ask.
I stopped listening to what Principal Powers said. The boy that entered the room screamed dangerous. He was about a half foot taller than me and was lightly muscular. He had ice-blue eyes and midnight black hair. The ends of his hair were dyed white, and his eyebrow and lip were pierced. He wore a black leather jacket over a white polo. His black jeans had a few chains dangling from them. His black Vans were scuffed and beaten up. He removed his hands from his pockets, revealing fingerless gloves.
"Hi," I whispered, "I'm Angelina McLine."
The boy shook my hand, but hesitance showed in his eyes.
"Adam," he replied, "Adam Brisingr."
Principal Powers smiled brightly; extremely happy at the outcome of the meeting.
"Welcome to Sky High," Adam whispered, "Prepare for the ride of your life."
I nodded, still hesitant around this boy. We left the office after Principal Powers gave Adam instructions to show me around the school and protect me. He scoffed and walked out of the office without giving me a second glance.
I remained in the office, hurt that he didn't seem to care about me.
"Hey," he called, poking his head back around the corner, "Are you coming Angie?"
I smiled and followed him out of the office.
"Welcome to Sky High!" he waved his arms out, "the place where heroes are made, and villains begin their little reigns of terror."
He pointed to two other seniors picking on a kid in an orange t-shirt.
"Those two dicks are Speed and Lash," he snarled, "the bullies of Sky High. They spend their free time giving swirlies to sidekicks and acting like pervs towards girls.
He then gestured to the heavy set kid, who was running around and keeping the kid trapped. Lash was stretched up and holding the kid's backpack several feet above him.
"Speed has super speed," he scowled, "and Lash has elasticity and can stretch himself into different shapes."
"Hmmm," I muttered, "those are kind of stupid powers."
Adam snorted, a small amount of smoke coming out of his nose.
"So," he asked, "What brings you, a transfer student, to Sky High?"
I rubbed the back of my neck, feeling unnerved from the attention
"I've always gone to a normal school my whole life," I explained, "My parents are both non-powered, so I have no clue where I got my powers."
"What are your powers?" Adam asked, kicking a small rock, and glaring at the bullies
"Uh," I muttered, "I can heal and I can increase someone's power."
Adam stopped glaring at Speed and Lash and whipped his head towards me.
"Really?" his normal deep voice rose in pitch, "Those are handy powers!"
"Then why did Coach Boomer put me in sidekick class?" I asked
"Boomie probably thought you would be the best sidekick." He waved his hand, "Those are the perfect powers to help your hero."
"I guess," I muttered, "So what are your powers?"
Adam grinned, revealing two elongated canine teeth.
"I can shape-shift," he swelled with pride, "My senses are heightened and I have super human endurance."
"Really?" I asked, "What can you shift into?"
Adam flicked his arm. Seconds later, his arm was very muscular and covered in black scales. Long spines poked out from his wrist and elbow. His hands had extremely sharp claws coming out.
"Whoa there!" I stepped back, "Watch where you point that thing!"
Adam rolled his eyes and flicked his arm again. Regular, human flesh appeared.
"A dragon," he explained, "That's why I tend to stay alone. I almost attacked someone when I was a freshman."
I felt a surge of pity for the boy before me. He was a vulnerable, sensitive teenager beneath his tough, and sometimes scaly, appearance.
"Well," I placed a hand on his shoulder, "I could heal whoever ticks you off."
It was silent for a moment. Adam lifted his head and gave me a big smile.
"Come on," he muttered, "Let's get you to class."
A/N: Yeah, I know. Terrible ending. I suffered from a terrible disease known as a brain fart and couldn't go on. So, let me know what you think, flames are welcome! R and R!
