AN: Who else thinks that this would happen? I mean, who, as a kid, read Matilda and didn't try and move things after?
Disclaimer: Yeah, I have no clue who currently owns Matilda, or any of Roald Dahl's works, so I don't own that, and I'm obviously not a middle aged woman, so I don't own it.
Hermione finished reading Matilda in 2 hours, which was a very impressive feat for a 5 year old. She had loved the book, identifying with Matilda so much. She was far ahead of her class, and one of the teachers was really mean to her. He'd said something like 'muddy blood' to her and was constantly complaining about some ministry sending him. So that made her wonder if she could move stuff too. The little girl went up to her room and found that pretty duck feather that she'd picked up. She focused and concentrated, trying to make it move across the desk, and it moved about 10 centimetres.
"Mum! I read Matilda and she can move things with her mind and so can I!" she shouted, running downstairs, hoping her mummy would believe her.
"Oh, Hermione. Matilda can do that because it's a made-up story, people can't do that in real life," the dentist said, turning back to the paperwork.
"But Mummy, I can do it! Look!" she said, trying to make the pen spin, and nothing happened.
Well, maybe no-one else would know. But she would know, and the thought put a small smile on Hermione's face.
So, this is currently a oneshot, but maybe if I have nothing else to do (obviously not including homework, lol.) I might continue this.
