Benedict-

Elizabeth stared Admiral Norrington in the eyes, willing him to come with her.

"Come with us." She said franticly, not wanting him to be killed for helping her.

"I'll be along shortly." He didn't dare look her straight in the eyes.

"You're lying." She said, panicking. James could see the gears turning in her head like clockwork and he knew he was to regret these next actions.

"Elizabeth, our fates have been intermingled, but never intertwined." He kissed her with passion.

"Who goes there?" Said a voice from above them. James drew his sword and wrapped his arm around her for her safety.

"Go." He whispered.

Elizabeth climbed onto the rope to begin back to her boat, reluctant to leave James. One look cast behind her and she saw shadows playing on the dank walls of The Endeavor. She felt the icy sea rushing to greet her not a moment later.

James looked back to the shadows of sailors coming for him. One rounded the corner and peered at him. "Part of the crew, part of the ship." He began to chant.

"Back to your station." James commanded.

"Part of the crew, part of the ship, part of the crew part of the ship." He persisted.

"Stand down." James said forcefully,

"No one leaves the ship." He said again. He began to shout for help.

James knew he had not very long to make a choice.

He jumped. Somewhere along his descent towards the water, pain exploded in his shoulder and the stars danced above his head. Then, there was nothing.

James surfaced in the water, looking around for Elizabeth. Salt water dripped into his eyes, ruining his powdered wig and burning his eyes. His shoulder burned in the frigid waters and he fought to stay afloat. Somewhere in the water was her, and he needed her. "Elizabeth!" He shouted, hoping to hear her voice in response.

Elizabeth broke to the surface in the black waters to hear gun blasts, sputters and one familiar voice shouting her name.

"James!" She shrieked in response, swimming in the direction of the voice. Before he had the time to think, Elizabeth had reached him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, holding him steady and warm in the waters. James couldn't stifle the grunt of pain that worked its way up his throat Any lower had the wound been, he would be dead right now.

"Oh god, what happened?" Elizabeth asked separating herself from him carefully.

"It's only a flesh wound, Elizabeth. A petty price to pay to choose the right side." He smiled and tucked a piece of her wet hair behind her ear.
