Review of Doc Martin Practice Makes Perfect.

This official book by Sam North was published in 2013 and covers the first series of 2004. It might have been a gold mine if the author had direct access to Dominic Minghellla or Martin Clunes andtheir hinking. But as the ten year time gap suggests, the book shows no clear sign of that or even access to the original script. Anyone could have written it from the TV discs. Where the one extra that Louisa wanted a female doctor for the town came from is not at all clear.

There are omitted and rearranges scenes which was necessary, but the choices are bad. Gone is the key scene of Louisa at the front trying to invite Martin to the dance as it is the clearest indication so far that she is interested in him. Worst was removing Dr. Adrian Pitts so then the scene where Louisa tells him off for starting the gossip about Martin's heamophobia. That is the clearest part of all the Doc Martin series as to why Louisa loves the Doc " who is 10 times the man" the womanizing Pitts "will ever be", by daily fighting his blood aversion in his care of others.

Like the series, the Louisa and Martin theme is mainly diluted with the villagers and their wacky medical problems. Most fanfiction is just about Martin and Louisa. If you want a distillation of just those two from Series 1, look at the video "Diagnose with Care" on . video/x422s9w Guaranteed it contains every single Louisa moment
