Katie sighed as she tossed and turned in her bed.

After about an hour of listening to the other girls snoring, she realized she wasn't going to be able to, so she got up and went into the Gryffindor common room.

She sat on one of the couches and tried to figure out the reason she was still awake.

"Katie," a familiar voice mumbled. Katie whirled around to see her best friend, Fred Weasely, sitting/lying on one of the other couches.

"Oh, hi Fred," she said sleepily.

"Katie," he mumbled again, and she realized he hadn't woken up.

She giggled at Fred, muttering in his sleep. She would have to use that as blackmail someday.

"Katie?" he asked.

"Yes Fred?" she whispered softly, hoping to provoke him into saying something she could use against him.

"I love you," he mumbled.

She gasped, her eyes widening in shock. Had he really just said that!

No, no, no, no, no, no-

Oh, uh, yeah.

Did he mean it? Or was he just talking?

Or maybe he meant as a friend.

What was she supposed to do?

"I love you too," she said softly, without thinking. Then she gasped again. Had she just said that!?

Why!?

Everything was suddenly flipped upside down. Maybe she was dreaming. She pinched herself.

"Ow!" she cried. Not dreaming.

"Don't cry Katie Cat," Fred muttered dreamily. "I'm here."

She smiled in spite of herself. How sweet!

And then it hit her. She did love him. She had always loved him. And it took him saying at first to make her realized it.

So she did the first thing she thought of. She stood up and walked over to the couch he was on, sat beside him and leaned against him.

"I love you, Fred Weasely," she muttered, before drifting off to sleep against him.

Of course, she didn't know that Fred had woken up already. "Love you too Katie Cat," he said, smiling blissfully at the fact that she was laying against him.

And they both got the best night's sleep either of them had ever had.
